Bennet, Des and Bellyache.

The 3 old bulls seem to be teachingvthe young bucks a thing or 2 at the moment.

I feel even Robbo and Cleary are just treading water at the moment.

The rest. Pfft....

Thoughs?

It's swings and roundabouts and lady luck mate. Robinson, even though he has almost twice our salary cap, has a had a horror injury toll to contend with, whereas supercoach Bennett has not. No doubt Des is doing a very good job with roster and on-field performance. Bellyache is the standout.

The three old dogs are all coaching masters in every sense. They know when to hold when to fold, when to walk away, and when to run. All three are cut from a similar abrasive cloth, skilled in the fine art of getting their point across to the media in dry admonishing tones.

Robinson is undeniably a great coach, but he is from the new age, media-friendly brigade.

Will be interesting today to see if Panthers rest any players.

Cleary is going OK. He has been without 1/2 of his first choice spine on and off for most of the season. That is seen as the number one excuse in these parts for any poor performance by us. Panthers at full strength will be well and truly in the mix

Bellamy is the one who just consistently delivers. The Storm rarely put in a bad performance regardless of who they play and who they have kitting up for them. You could count on one hand the amount of times they have conceded more than 30 points in a game over the last 5 years. Des, Robbo and Bennet have had some touch ups over that time

The Storm are clearly the bench mark.

When bellyache retires, manly need to bring Frank Ponissi home

Bellyache is the only constant there ....

Dessie and Bennett were both unceremoniously sacked with extreme prejudice from their last clubs ...

The one thing this old baastard does know is .... wait a year and things will be different all over again ...

Was interested in checking out that stat and the last time the Storm conceeded 40 points in a game was Round 4 2014. They are just a consistent football team, and Bellamy gets the best out of them EVERY week. As much as I hate them you have to accept they are the benchmark

Looking at it as objectively as I can (!) his success is fascinating. We all know the win at all costs, grubby tactics, dangerous wrestling manoeuvres, the ignorance and denial of salary cap cheating.
But there is something unique there too. I suspect he chooses players very carefully for their ability to folllow strict but simple instructions. He doesn't want lairs. He doesn't use "brilliant but flighty" type players.
They never seem like a team that plays with high emotion, just grim determination. Robots!
So many coaches and players have left Storm for other clubs over the past 15 years, yet none seem to have been able to copy Bellamy's secrets.
