The 'False 6', return of the centre and disher dominance: NRL's big tactical trends of 2022

My quick, surface-level (and possibly inaccurate) summary of the article (above) as written:

  • Centres these days are worthless idiots - how did Manly get the best out of two plodders - Parker & Harper - when even hack teams like Brisbane & Newcastle have (cough) much better centres? How can this be?
  • Lock forwards used to run and tackle a lot. Then they morphed into behemoths. Now they are fake five-eighths....what is this devilment? Pitchforks and torches needed! Locks who are 'all-round' (not like Mr G Rose - though he was useful) footballers??
  • Hookers - dummy half runners - or dummy half passers? And - how did Manly get into the top-four last year with a passer - not a runner -when that was the prevailing trend?? Maybe ball distributors are also useful?

I love how folk who are not enamored with Manly are prepared to ascribe any success that we have to anything other than........ maybe Manly is really a very good football club, perhaps on the cusp of greatness again.

Thanks for the summation

I did stop reading relatively early on (the article, not your summation, haha).

I love it! Every year this happens. We are not good enough, our players ain't as good, position to position, against every other team. The tipsters don't rate us, granted we rate higher than last year but no one rates to make top 4. Footy shows don't even talk about us. Foxtel show about a 95% lose ratio on their game replays showing Manly - total disgrace.

They hate Manly, guess what we hate you back. Just means our odds to win get better.
