Can't agree with your assessment of Kite and Princess, nor of Vic or Robinson. The latter two played good and punched forward, the former irritating in their lack of punch. Kite was better than his last couple of games, but why he persists in passing is beyond me. Whenever he has the ball it's heart attack time.

I don't agree with Kite having a good game. If George was not there to make the meters he did we would have had ZERO go forward and lost the game. Kite needs to start running hard and straight and no more passes BEFORE the line, he needs to offload AT the line.

My views exactly.

Mauros lack of real class is made up by his punch and error free play.

Maybe King or Kite are headed for the bench with Joe or Vic starting.

Brilliant report CF2 thanks for the passion.

I can see what you mean re Kite, whilst I agree with other comments that he does still have worrying tendencies I agree his metres didn't match the effort last night his attitude was great and he never stopped working. Not many props make 29 tackles these days playing just 40-50 mins except for freaks like Gallen.

I'm also on similar page with Mauro yes he's solid no frills etc but with many of our forwards at the latter stages of their careers it would be great to unearth a new star forward. I guess that's exactly what we all hoped and thought Lussick would be but he's not come on as much as promised to date and needs to improve his hands. Perhaps simply more time for him to develop (if he stays with us).

Loved your Peter Alexander pyjamas description totally spot on. That jersey was absolutely disgusting in fact it felt so weird like I wasn't watching Manly at all. Who came up with that?!

And lastly yes being at ANZ too it was awful, for a match that big no atmosphere at all and a crap crowd figure.

In regards to getting stuck into the 'designers' of Manly's Anzac jerseys, the design was the brainchild of Lieutenant Colonel Rod Farrar, a passionate Sea Eagles fan, who served in Iraq in 2004 and the colour and design is identical to the camo gear he wore in Iraq and it got full prior approval by the Defence Force. Lieutenant Colonel Farrar's company Paladin Risk Management Services was Manly's major sponsor for the clash.

So in saying that, all for a good cause from a serving Manly fan! Thought I'd clear that up :)

GO MANLY!

Great report. Not often I do this but I want to mention Shayne Hayne.
He is the best ref in the comp by miles.
Has the respect of the players, isn't a show pony like Maxwell, Robinson and sometimes Archer. And his error rate is pretty good.
One more thing - how sweet was it to see the Dogs fans A) silenced and B) streaming out with 4 to go. Tools the lot of them.

Baz you are right about Hayne, there were not many stupid penalty's so the game flowed nicely.

But did you notice all our penalties were given when we were on the attack? They didn't give us any advantage, they simply interrupted us.

I think that's what Lyon was saying when he was talking to the refs at half time.

Just to be crystal clear it was only the design and colours of the jersey I was criticising. The idea of wearing a jersey to honour our brave and courageous troops is fantastic and fully supported. With the greatest of respect to the Lieutenant Colonel Rod Farrar, a maroon based camo with white shorts would still have been a great and fitting tribute whilst at the same time actually looking like our team, which after all it should do just as our previous Indigenous jersey, and the Roosters dark blue camo on Wednesday both achieved perfectly.

At the end of the day it wasn't a major deal, it's simply that nobody could deny how awful and un Manly like it looked, plus being hard to make out the players and numbers.

Perhaps next year we could honour the troops again with a more Manly/camo design. What about a competition installed by the club for all members and supporters to enter a design idea with an entry fee going to the appropriate Ex Services charity and the winner of the design credited and presented with their own signed/framed version on game day.

Thoughts anyone?

Great idea CF2.

Fantastic to honour the troops but it should look like Manly. A jersey competition would be great fun and create a lot more awareness too. A lot of people I spoke to ANZ had no idea why we were wearing that outfit which means it wasn't just awful but missed it's point.

Larissa can you promote this idea?

Add something to the bad for me - that manly fan confronting security while giving De$ a gob full after the game.

Manly fans are better than that I hope.

Also the ref should have got player's player for the dogs. Some of those penalties - come on.

Whenever the dogs lost the ball - it was stripped and a penalty awarded. Whenever we lost the ball it was a scrum.

I hope we don't get that ref again. He should be dropped.

Good read, but I disagree regarding DCE, he was hampered in his runs because no one was putting their hand up for a run. Several times he went to the line looking for an opening or a runner, only to find that there was no one there to pass to

Maybe something like would be more suitable?

To me thats more commercialism than the one we wore on Friday. If you want to cash in, do something like that. If you want to support the troops, wear what we did against the Dogs.
