Enjoy and thanks CF2

To quote Tom W. Our bench is off. Tommy S is wasted he needs to start and play 80 min hitting up our right side. Gift needs to go to the bench in place of Buhrer and bring in Sao at prop and persevere with the other bench spot till Fa'aoso comes back. Perhaps even give Chisholm, Higgins or Lawton a go at bringing some variety to our attack and giving Ballin a break for 20 min.

i keep reading that gift should go to the bench ( im neutral on this subject ) ..... but that would be a gutsy call for any coach to make for a player that has done so much for the team in the past....if that call was to be made would there be a negative & sour reaction from the other team members ???

Well potter took a big gamble and benched Benji a couple of weeks ago. Since then the Tigers look re energized and are playing much better. We look stale at the moment. We need a shake up to re energize the troops. It's like they've fallen into a comfort zone with no competition for places in the team because our lower grades are so ****. It seems like there is a malaize through the place at the moment.

Wolfie has no chance of doing anything whilst the RHS attack is marked and Manly are too slow to change point of attack

Haven't seen the replay yet, but at the game it seemd that at least 4 times the Warriors centre and winger were an arms length from Killer - yet DCE still insisted on passing to him instead of kicking for Wolfie.

In the second half, Wolfie almost scored atry from this seemingly obvious alternative

Forcing of passes has to stop and the stopping of offloads needs to start ASAP:exclamation:

Great development in Hiku was highlight, along with Horo, Hiku and Matai scoring in front of their families in NZ:angel:

It's like we're missing our Captain - The Captain of our ship. At the moment, we are rudderless. No plan, no strategy, not sure of the next move - just use the same as last time. It didn't work then but it might be different now.

Does Brett bring all that?

King is often under-rated, but he isn't co-captain for nothing. He's a significant loss this year.

Another good read CF2.
The decision/dilemma with Glenn needs to be addressed immediately. A top quality player just lacking in match fitness and confidence at the moment. If he declared himself not fit enough for Origin, then why do our coaching staff think he's fit enough for us? Our once lethal right side is suffering at the moment (and Brett's loss is definately not helping) but something has to give. Benching him would probably be a waste as he needs to play as many minutes as possible, maybe moving him into the middle and playing Choc on the right edge?

Beaver came off the bench...

Here here every team needs an enforcer the king dog is our enforcer never takes a backward step

Analysis King: CF2.
We are starting to become the stop / start team this season. There are multiple issues all highlighted in CF2's report. The most worrying is Glenn S. What a player he has been and he simply is a shadow, as reported, these days. And what has happened to Tom Symonds? It's like he hasn't a clue what to do or where to be. Worrying game coming up. If we continue to dish this sort or performance up we will start to lose games and even go on a slide backwards. Not good to say or hear, but true. A solid committed win with a firing attack this Friday will go a long way to turning this ship around before any rot sets in.

Congratulations to CF2 for a good honest assessment of DCE/Foran/Buhrer/G.Stewart. I think Buhrer should be shopped around to free up some salary cap space (not sure if Ricky Stuart or Bozo was behind his State Of Origin selection but it no doubt activated a contract clause leading to a pay rise). Tom Symonds is coming back from a quadriceps strain but looks like he has lost a bit of confidence after being shunted around since G.Stewart's return. Foran has had some good moments but he and DCE need to take more control when the match is in the balance . Manly's long kicking game has been erratic , and even Manly's kick-offs are relatively short compared to most teams.

Lyon's form was great earlier in the year (that try he finished against the Bulldogs off B.Stewart was pure class) . His form has tapered , but it's just a matter of time before he returns to his best (maybe once his contract is sorted). G.Stewart obviously has a lot of credit in the bank , but I do think the attack looked better before he returned. Maybe that chronic finger injury/deformity has sapped his confidence . I don't think the constant public bleating from DCE's manager about his client's contract helps DCE in any way.

The big positive was Hiku...it was a breakthrough performace (like DCE against the Broncos). These days everyone seems to want 4 forwards on the bench but given Manly's lack of options if a winger/fullback goes down during a match , a case could be made for Hiku on the bench when Snake returns. In the past when Lyon or Buhrer have played on the wing they were exposed, and you need contingency plans especially in finals football. The lack of versatility to cover winger/fullback during a match is a glaring weakness which needs to be addressed given the injury history of Wolf and Snake.

Hiku on the bench isnt that bad an idea, he is quick from dummy half, gets us a few penalties when trying to play the ball quickly and is showing some attacking skills now.
