So after the NRL has set the choc precedent - ie a player with a pre existing injury retires and there contract is paid out in full but not included in the cap - does this mean we can release Stewart and matai for next year and spend that 1 million on new players ?

There is no way in hell that Todd Greenturd would let Manly exploit that loophole.

Period.

/thread.

Hypothetical - So lets say we go after Johnathon Thurston on a 7 year massive deal, say from 2017.

And he gets an "injury" in the second year and retires.

The NRL has set a precedent with the way they have allowed poker machines to pay out a dodgy retirement, (and what was a very dodgy contract length to begin with for such a player) in my book this is also known as cheating. And anyway the NRL would be very hard pressed not to allow any other club with pokie revenue or oodles of monay to do the same. Legally could get messy if they didn't.

The NRL is pathetic and totally corruptible by broadcasters, full stop.

Snowden just retired the same way,it's not a new precedent at all.
The pensioning off of Choc just to clear the Parra Cap Breaches is what other Clubs are concerned about.

The problem for Manly is that it's privately owned and funded, so any payout would come out of the Franchise/Owners pockets.@

Parra has a wealthy Leagues Club to fnance Choc's retirement.

Manly Leagues Club is basically trading isolvent until the DAs get approved for the new owners of the site. They haven't contributed to the Football side since 1999

Why do you think 4 teams are chasing foran for next year

Sign him on a big contract and if he turns out **** the just pay him out like watmough outside the cap Not much risk signing players like him any more

No, the precedent set by the NRL is if you systematically rort the salary cap they'll slap you on the wrist then baby you all the way back to legitimacy and stability, bending whatever rules necessary to get you there.

But only if you are the favoured teams because we know some are more equal than others

Provided you're one of the favoured clubs. You know the ones....they bring in ratings for Nein. Brisbane, doesn't-matta etc etc.

Greenturd is nothing but a yes man who bows to the wishes of the television benefactor (or should that be owner). What's good for television is obviously what's best for rugby league.....o_O

I'm contemplating "the Watmough Conjecture" which is a problem that has eluded mathematicians for some time.

The Conjecture attempts to explain through formulae why the value of an object increases after it is so wrecked that it can no longer operate.
