COUNCIL SUBMITS APPLICATION FOR CENTRE

DEE Why’s proposed community centre and carpark has moved another step closer after building plans for the project were submitted.

Warringah Council has lodged a development application for the $25 million project, to replace the carpark at the corner of Kingsway and Fisher Rd, and a third party will assess the application.

The project is part of the council’s plans to redevelop its chambers site.
The new building would stand four storeys tall, and include three levels of parking, a cafe, office space, community rooms and sports courts.
The existing carpark has 130 spaces, while the proposed one would have 348.

The NSW Police Citizens Youth Club would manage the centre, which would operate 6am to 12am seven days, while the carpark would operate from 5.30am to 12am, seven days.

Parking would be free for the first three hours to accommodate local shopping, according to the development application.

The public can have its say on the plans until May 8.

Comments can be lodged through the council’s website and will be considered by the group deciding the application.

We got the DA Papers in the letterbox today for comments.
It was costed at 20 million last year, now I noticed its up 25% to 25 million.
Brookie needed $10 million, and if it incorporated this facility, all the locals would have been happy :dodgy:

This is literally 2km fropm Brookie, has serious traffic issues now and the Narraweena PCYC 2km north of it has been lobbying Council for funds for years :dodgy:

Democracy at its worst with these rogue Local Councils :-/

It has $10 million from the Feds already.

WC spending $25 million on extending their own Chamber area, rather than incorporating the facility into a revamped Brookvale Park, would have covered it and then some by $5 million surplus.

This council is prioritizing the redevelopment of Dee Why CBD over all else. Brookvale Oval definitely is not even on the agenda for the current council.

FFS...$10 million wont get us warm pies, cold beer and somewhere to pee
