Hi, we're some Bradford supporters on tour in Australia and plan on attending Manly's v Sharks game (you guys are known as our brother team back in the UK).

If we're coming from central Sydney, what's the best way of getting to Manly using our purple rail/bus/ferry weekly card?

How much is a ticket, and where is best to sit/stand?

Cheers :)

Get a bus/train to Wynyard station. Go up to the main bus shelter in Wynyard. From there hop on a L80, 180, 178 or any bus to Brookvale, there is a stop right out the front of Brookvale oval.

Or, you can get a ferry to Manly and then get a bus to Brookvale oval. Id say the 1st option might be easier. Check out this website and it will tell you times of buses, ferries etc. http://www.131500.com.au/

General admission is $22, and the best place to sit (IMO) is on the grass hill, inline with the halfway mark.

Hi mate,

The quickest way to get to Brookvale would be to catch a bus from Wynard station (Sydney CBD). Plenty of buses going all of the time, with lots stopping outside Brookvale Oval/Manly Leagues club as well. If not, the oval is about 5min walk from Warringah Mall.

If you're keen to see some of the Beaches then I'd advise to catch the ferry from Circular Quay across to Manly. From Manly you can get a bus straight to the oval. Takes a bit longer but it's a nice trip & you'll see more of the area.

At Brooky the best place to watch the game would be on the eastern hill (General Admission) though i'm biased. A lot of us noisier members congregate around the beer shed (Which sits around midway/40m line).

This website www.131500.com should be able to help with Sydney public transport. Just type in where you want to go & it'll give you directions & times.

EDIT - Beaten to the punch by Pepi!

Bus from Wynyard is your best bet. Im not sure of the best numbers but anything that stops at Warringah mall is fairly close, 5 - 10 minutes further walk up the same road.

Tickets for general admission are $25 and that allows you to sit or stand anywhere outside of the stands and the western terrace. The stands cost more. manly's website mwse.com.au will have more info.

As for where it all depends on what you like. If you go early enough you can get a set right on half way on the fence on the east side only a few metres from the side line, great for heckling the touch judges and wingers. If you like the chanting etc then on the hill about the 40m line north end is the place to be. Bring a hat/sunnies for this time of year unless you are in the stands.

Or ask around here and on facebook you may be able to snag a lift also :)

but pepi is right. The scenic route is the Ferry + a 155 or other bus but s bus straight from Wynyard is the best, though you should expect an approx 40 minute bus ride.

Thank you all!

We'll take the scenic way unless we bump into somebody to follow, then we might change our minds.

We're into chanting (being Poms and all) so we'll stand on the hill (will be an experience seen as we don't have them back in the UK).

See you all there.

as a tourist i would suggest the Ferry, see some of the sites like the Bridge and Opera House. Additionally it is pretty cool look out at the different points.

40m line on the main hill (scoreboard end 40m line), just near the beer stand. Look for the big flags & listen for the chanting & come & say hi.

Will be good to see you! By the way, how has Beaver Menzies and Bradford been going?

PS: If you've got time available, the ferry trip is well worth it! Both are easy options.

If you go the ferry scenic route, get a bus or taxi to Circular Quay (or only a 10 min walk from Wynyard Station along George St heading north, turn right when you see the water and there are the ferries). Catch the Manly ferry it'll be signposted bigtime. Voila and Roberts yer uncle!

2pm kickoff for main game remember  ;)

Got to take the Manly ferry. Sydney harbour is one of the most beautiful in the world, may as well see it from water level!

As a tourist myself, definitely take the ferry, is a nice wee journey across and the buses are easy to find

You guys at the ground ought to shout these blokes a beer for taking Orford off our hands.  And if they can chant, point them in Vidmar's direction.

Mata I'm sure DSM will shout these blokes as many beers as they can swallow  ;)

Just be aware guys that there will be bag checks upon entrance to the ground.

If Orford is in there, we'll find him and deport him along with yourselves.

They probably would, he's been killing it for them.

Saw the conclusion of Bradfords game last weekend, drew 20-20 with leeds, had a play not far out from the posts in the final seconds, orford screaming for the ball and Kearney passed it away from the sticks and no shot was even taken

Yeah I saw that too. Beaver had a great game and they would have won it if they'd passed to Orford. He wasn't happy about it either. I don't know if Super League is a step down in quality or Orford has gotten over his injuries but he's taking on the line and scoring tries, and he doesn't seem to be hogging the ball as much as he used to. Great to see Beaver still going strong.

And for our Bradford friends, something from the recent MWSE newsletter:
