Warrington Wolves first team coach Richard Marshall says his side is thrilled to be training in Australia and with the Sea Eagles ahead of the new Super League season.

The Wolves have made the trip Down Under as part of a three-week training regime, and Marshall believes the experience of training amongst some of the NRL’s biggest stars will benefit his players both on and off the field.

“Getting out here with a top quality NRL side like the Sea Eagles has done us the world of good,” Marshall said.

“It’s a far cry from Warrington but at the same time it’s good to get out here and experience the culture and the life style.

“It’s not just about the footy, it’s about given the players life experiences and hopefully one day some of these boys may be over here playing in the NRL.

“We came over several years ago and had a game against the Rabbitohs, which was good, but we thought we’d do something different this time and get some more experience within the NRL, which is great.”

Former Super League player and Sea Eagles legend Steve Menzies, who had two years at Bradford Bulls following an astounding career in the NRL, says Warrington always proved a stern challenge during his time in the UK.

“They were always fierce competitors with big strong, forwards. They are always a quality side, always inside the top 2 or 3 in the competition,” Menzies said.

“They play an expansive brand of football too, they are always ready to throw it wide if the option arises.”
