Am I missing something here regarding talk of DCE not ending his career with us? That highlighted sentence above is in the past tense, and it makes reference to him getting offers last November. Isn't that when he recommitted to Manly for the next few years? So what's the problem?

The Jazz thread ... all that Jazz

I will get this out of the way early: I have never really thought much of him as a player, despite his outstanding name. I mean, "Jazz Tevanga" just rolls off the tongue, right? Always makes me happy hearing it. Still, my impression of him at the Warriors has always been a bit on the "meh" side...

    Lodge, you Monster

Matt Lodge returns to Manly in deal that combines construction, boxing and footy by Dan Walsh and Christian Nicolussi Matt Lodge will end up playing for Manly after all in 2025 after initially baulking at the club’s extension offer. He’ll work on a construction site and combine his fledgling...

    Trial Games

From a story about the return of Matt Lodge in the Herald: Meanwhile, Gutherson was at his vocal best as the Dragons new-look spine comprising he, Damien Cook, Lachie Ilias and Kyle Flanagan enjoyed some vital game time together on Friday. For a third straight pre-season, Manly and the Dragons...

one area Manly must improve in 2025

More room for Koula Shaker would be nice, but really, if we're serious about being premiership contenders, we need to fix the right side of our defence. Then we need to fix the left side. Then we need to hit the tackle bags, over and over again. We have to learn how to play without the ball...

    The Luke Brooks Book Thread.

I thought he was great for us in his first year, and I was a sceptic to begin with. (Thought his defence was suspect and that he wasn't durable. So naturally his defence was great and he played every game.) Seems like a nice little dude, too, which makes it very easy to cheer for him in a Manly...

Well, past experience confirms he ain't about to shut up. Let's hope he can do both.

Sorry, Joe - just his height, mainly. He's very tall for a half, but I probably could have worded that better:-) Much like Josh did, Onitoni stands out in the juniors because of his skills and his size. He's like the big kid you can see in any under-11s game, dominating the smaller kids on the...

An extremely talented young half whose body shape and development suggests he doesn't have a longterm future in the position? What could possibly go wrong?

    Silvertails greatest ever whipping boy

Yep, that was my point re "Steppa" Stephenson, too. When the team is winning regularly, nobody is looking for a whipping boy. But when the team is losing, everybody is a target.

    Silvertails greatest ever whipping boy

One of his brothers played for us as well, right? Ben? And I think Paul then had a career in administration with the QRL. Thing is, I always liked him as a player. Always thought he did his best for the club during some pretty lean years. But, like most of the site's whipping boys, people...

    Silvertails greatest ever whipping boy

Paul "Steppa" Stephenson was always good for a rant or two back in the good old days when our entire team was made up almost entirely of well-meaning plodders.

    Onitoni Large

    DCE to announce retierment

Most of that shadow, it must be said, is from his neck. But seriously, I get where you are coming from. Whatever shortcomings our player roster has had over the last decade or so, we haven't had to worry about having a quality half. We've certainly had issues with finding him a quality...

    DCE to announce retierment

Yeah, but that's only because he's been our halfback for 42 of those 50 years… I kid, I kid. But really, I'm excited for the future. Change is not always a bad thing, and Cherry can't play on forever. It's time for somebody else to step up and show us what they can do. DCE has been a club...

    DCE to announce retierment

Yep. This is our biggest weakness, aside from our poor defence overall. I would think that Luke Brooks - a very experienced NRL player who had an excellent first season for us - will be leading the team around, and not a rookie half. I'm guessing that was always part of the reason for...
