    Pre-Game Chooks V Manly [Finals Week 2, 2024]

Same here. We smashed them in Las Vegas and they only just beat us a a couple of months back. That day Walker mesmerised us and we pretty much lost Alioia in the first tackle and a few other injuries during the game. Today no Walker and I think Josh wont be playing under handicap and due for a...

    Tolu try

I am sure the coaching staff are aware. Just disappointing that over 27 rounds we have not seen any variation in attack on that left side. Thinking for example a simple chip through or chip over the top.....4th / 5th tackle. With tolu's speed he would be odds on to get to the ball first. Worst...

    Tolu try

Probably the biggest "fail" from our coaching staff this year. That try hopefully would have given Tolu a taste of open spaces and his lethal capabilities out wide. To me he appears to deliberately ruck into opposition defenders rather than trying to run around them. Admittedly he always seems...

    Lehi Hopoate

I did not want to comment here as I don't want to put any more pressure on the kid and build up dad's negotiation points. But got to say he is the entire package. Apart from the "must haves" (eg. speed, step, balance, tackling, toughness etc) Lehi has the most critical factors of all which I...

    Lodge, you Monster

Could not agree more. Hope we hang onto him. That was an eye catching performance on Friday. Also I have always been a big fan of Jack Hetherington. One of the genuine tough guys of the NRL. If Knights are letting him go he could be an interesting addition to our middle pack. Still very young...

    Run Koula Run

Yes I thought Tolu had a great game on Friday and looked to be running more comfortably. I am damned if I can work out his best position. Loves the tough stuff so opens up possibilities through the forwards as a utility. I think this kid could play in almost any position. Time will tell.

    Lodge, you Monster

I thought Lodge led the way through the middle against the Dogs. Taniela had a very good game also but he is not a leader. Neither is Aloiai. Lodge is the undisputed leader of the pack. With these 3 guys and Brown and Bulleymore on the bench, we can back up the same performance next week against...

    Run Koula Run

Yes opposition coaches have certainly worked him out. The bigger problem unfortunately is that our own coaches have not. I think Tolu is a runner ....an athlete first. A footballer second. So why play him in the centres where you definitely need to be somewhat creative?? The bleeding obvious...

    Miserable Middles To Dominate Middles.

I am still in shock after Thursday night. Our forwards have put in some real inept and miserable performances this year but that one surely takes the cake. Not sure whether it's just coincidence but ever since we extended the contracts for Paseka, Aloiai and Haumole their collective form has...

    Miserable Middles To Dominate Middles.

I am definitely in the "dislike" camp. The main reason is how quickly he goes down when he hits the defensive line. Absolutely no chance of any post contact metres let alone 2nd phase play. The most embarrassing statistic for Josh is that Tolu Koala has more post contact metres this year.

    Moving forward improvements needed

Arguably the worst refereeing performance of the season so we did well to come away with the 2 points against a seriously pumped up Warriors side. Having said that I thought our performance was poor with far too many drop balls and way too many one-on-one missed tackles. Firstly our right side...

Back 5 with Koula returning ?

You make a lot of sense Al. But I don't think the existing team status quo will win us a GF against either Penrith or Melbourne. Probably will against the likes of dogs, Rooster and Sharks....but not sure they will be our opponents in a GF scenario. Tolu has been average in the centres all...

Back 5 with Koula returning ?

It is a tough decision. However I think Seibs has chosen very well keeping the 13 intact and that is my run-on team for the preliminary / GF. However his window for experimentation is rapidly closing and I think that is all around Tolu Koula. This kid got to be in out team somewhere but not sure...

Back 5 with Koula returning ?

Well I was pretty close with my team prediction above. Surprised Seibold opted for Ben rather than Tolu on the bench. We know what we get from Ben. We don't know what we might get from Tolu. Against the Worriors I would have tested the waters.

Back 5 with Koula returning ?

Good points Al. I just think we have been missing something with Tolu in the centres. Plus I like the backline as it is. I guess we are about to find out what Seibold thinks about that.

    Wild theory/prediction

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Moses will be playing for Parra next year. It's all about 2026 where he has an option in his contract to test the market and it's also the same year I think Cherry will hang up the boots. Now if that is the case that free's up about $1m in our cap and...

    NRL’s fastest player

Agreed. Saab by about 3-5 metres!!! I hope they go with a 100 metre sprint rather that a relay. If the latter we will never know who is the fastest.

Back 5 with Koula returning ?

Will be very interesting to see who is selected today. Great position for the club to be in at this point in the season. I would not be changing the run on team from last week. GCKT as my 14, Tolu as my 15 with a roving commission through either the backline and / or 13 right through the middle...

    [Resurrected] Paseka

He certainly had some presence about him today. More of that Taniela. Well done big fella.

    Mitchell Moses

I hope you are right. My understanding is that his contract option starts in 26. So the much vaunted 5 year agreement (only signed last year) is actually a 3 year agreement with options.
