Luke Brooks - the plate is hot

Overall he's not bad, but after 250+ NRL games I think we know what we are (and are not) going to get from Brooks. I would be okay to keep him but at the same time, Walsh seems to be bashing down the door in NSW Cup. Big decision coming up for the club and timing will be important.

    2026 recruitment & retention

I'm actually not trying to be (too) funny... 150+ run metres and 31 tackles is by most impartial observer's standards, pretty good output for a forward, regardless of their salary. Players like Luke Garner, Jack Cogger, Paul Momirovski, Paul Alamoti, Brenko Lee... are all premiership winners in...

    2026 recruitment & retention

Why am I still hearing slander towards try scoring MACHINE Corey Waddell? He's on not much money, scores 2 tries, makes 150+ run metres, 2 line breaks, 2 tackle breaks, 31 tackles, no missed tackles... and still cops strays on here. Tough crowd. He's starting because he's filling in for an...

Season over: so, what did we get from it?

I am optimistic that with a different captain and chief playmaker (if not different coach) that we can play a different brand of football where we can grind out wins. Whether we do that or not will tell us a lot about season 2025 in hindsight.

    2026 recruitment & retention

This is my attitude whenever we lose a match and someone on Silvertails asserts that no Manly player would play first grade elsewhere... nearly every year there are average first graders that win premiership rings by playing their role in a great team.

    Kelma Tuilagi

https://www.seaeagles.com.au/news/2022/01/13/sea-eagles-extend-contracts-of-three-top-young-players/ Kaeo was only signed here until the end of 2023, he signed for the Raiders for 2024 onwards. Would Kaeo have excelled at #6? I'm not sure. For better or worse I think DCE being at halfback...

    Kelma Tuilagi

Tom is/was the first-choice fullback and was turning 27 when Weekes reached the end of his Manly contract. To me it was pretty clear that Kaeo's best position is fullback, and his options were: 1. Re-sign for Manly as a utility, when we still had Tom, Lehi, Koula, Garrick all under contract...

Tom Turbo .. interesting if true

He took a while finding form after returning from injury last year as well. In my opinion, Jake is a different story, but it would be dangerous to write off Tom. If he goes injury-free he could easily win another Dally M Medal (how representative or useful Dally M medals are in the context of a...

    Burbo

Last night: 12 runs 110 run metres (51 post-contact) 1 tackle break 34 tackles 0 missed tackles 0 ineffective tackles If he wasn't playing first-grade here, then he'd be playing first-grade at another NRL club.

    Who will win the comp

If Sharks beat the Knights tomorrow (likely) then Panthers will either finish 7th or 8th... I agree that they can still win from there, but they'll have some tough away trips to do it.

    Sack Seibold Immediately

I could but I won't... If he gets released halfway through next year we would end up with a caretaker coach... and caretaker coaches rarely become full-time NRL head coaches of note. So we wouldn't learn anything about who should be the next full time coach.

    Sack Seibold Immediately

Stats can make for interesting conclusions if taken in isolation. Ivan Cleary had a win ratio of 47% from the 319 NRL games he coached before 2020... a lower win rate than Seibold has currently. Then he won 78% of all games since, taking the Panthers to a Grand final, followed by 4 premierships...

    NSW Cup 2025

To be clear I'm not saying he shouldn't debut as a 19 year old... I'm saying that it doesn't seem smart to debut him this season. He will still be 19 years and 6 months old when the 2026 season starts, except with an NRL pre-season under his belt. I'm sure the club is planning on giving him...

    NSW Cup 2025

It isn't just about ability... There would be an element of 'duty of care' that needs to be considered as well. As a forward they have to be physically and mentally ready to run into 300+ kilograms of hardened NRL footballers over 10 times a match, and tackle 100+ kg ball runners, 25+ weekends...

    2026 recruitment & retention

I am not sure that Saab would have re-signed here until the end of 2029 on such a modest salary for a starting NRL winger.

    NSW Cup 2025

Hart has only just turned 19... There is no benefit to throwing him in the deep end at this point of the season. Having 18-19 year old NRL halves and backs is one thing, but they have to be a physical freak to hit the ground running as an NRL forward at that age.
