2026 recruitment & retention

Buying or offloading players is much harder to do with player mananers having too much say. If you try to boot a player on his books he’ll threaten clubs with taking other players on his books elsewhere.

Would love to see us let go Garick and Koloa and give TT2 a run at centre and buy Taylan May that'd be far more dangerous centre pairing and would save us probably 1/2 a million for a decent forward and put some agro in the side, which while no doubt unpopular would be a step forward, this pretty boy I broke a nail football is atrocious to watch, I don't see Koloa being anything other than a fullback and we seem to have a preference for hoppa there if Toms out (not sold on that log term either) and Garick is a winger only.

No offence God, but signing May is up there with the dumbest ideas I’ve ever read on Silvertails.

Ryan Matterson

when faced with a suspension of 3 weeks or a few grand fine, he takes the suspension.

cant make a lowly Eels team

has missed many games with concussion and its effects.

Not for me.
One of the dumbest mistakes I’ve witnessed in Rugba Leeg right up there with Terry Lambs 2 point field goal before they were a thing.

Maybe BaaBaa was a visionary after all.

Yeah, yet we got pinged for not being "arms length" enough in arranging some TPAs. Meanwhile the Roosters are making an open mockery of the system and the NRL is sitting on its hands.
Funny, I heard Tigers CEO Shane Richardson saying they had car deals set up for Lachie Galvin, I wonder if it was them organising 3rd Parties.

Wait, are we comparing domestic violence and common assault to a little aggro on the footy field.

Wow
I'm fairly sure just like Brett Stewart he was found not guilty, oh wait Brett Stewart was arrested for coke while on the coaching staff and kept his job...

He was not found not guilty.

His wife did not show up to court so the charges were dropped.

I feel like there are six of these threads now...

I know Koula and Garrick are all wham bam nice attackers, but far out, I would prefer a lower cost, good defensive centre like Parker right now, if it meant we could afford a better middle. Parker was not bad at all in 2021, when we were actually dominant.

IMO Turbo, Koula, and Garrick are fantastic attacking players, but what's the point if we can't even get to the position where we can actually use them. The few occasions we went up to their end of the field was due to penalties or errors. Stop this "Turbo needs to carry us up the field" rubbish. He's not superman.

Seemingly, in an attempt to emulate the Penrith back five's ability to make yardage, we have forgotten about the need for the middle to make yardage too.

You know what I love all of our outside backs individually. But as you say, collectively there is a lot of speed and not a whole lot of yardage in the back 5. It's why Tommy Talau was pretty important last year, and it's not like he would be in the top echelon of outside backs when it comes to the hitting the ball off our line.

Conversely, our pack is generally full of ageing plodders.

The balance is off in the team and unless the forwards dominate, we are toast. That applies to most teams, but particularly Manly.

Talent scouts have we got any and who are they? The storm have just signed Pahulu, a promising hard running second rower with footwork. He would have been perfect for us.

IMO We are missing backrowers like that, Navale and Bullemor are very good and if you look at the gun teams they all have players like this.

Dylan Walker was coming on in the 14 jumper and rumming and ball playing and was looking good before getting snatched by the Warriors who used him in that way very succesfully and now he's been picked up by the Eels and caused us all sorts of headaches on Saturday.

Having players like that will give us some go forward and unlock our halves and our backline.

Line speed is another problem we have and that's why we're so inconsistant. We dominated the Cowboys and sat back and watched the Eels come to us.
