2026 recruitment & retention

As with every other tigers player we have signed - if we get him cheap enough I'd be ok with it.

But I don't think he's what we need.
He's a good footballer he is just plagued with injuries. I think he could of become a very good player without all that.

As for coming to us well.. Jake needs to goto prop the game has gone past him. Us not playing jazz in the 13 has been criminal really but if douhei is a good price under 400k I'd be happy with him joining us to play the 13. He is only 26 or thereabouts and can play alot of positions adequately. At 400k He's more value than Jake 🤣

Personally, my opinion has shifted on Jake moving to prop.

You need your prop to put out 100m+ every game. That is not Jake's strength. People try to pigeonhole him into the prop basket, but it is simply not where he is the most effective.

Also, moving him to prop has already been done this year, and IMO, that was his worst game all year. If he's not making 100m+ at lock, why would he be doing it at prop? It's literally just a different number.

Making him run a considerable amount takes the sting out of his defence, and particularly leads him to falling behind in other areas in which our team lacks - namely ball-playing middles. Being a prop at Origin level for 20 mins is very different to being a 40min+ prop at NRL level. It's a similar story for Ben Hunt playing 9 at the Broncos and not firing.

What a prop needs to do week-in, week-out, at the NRL level is demanding, and is better performed by idiot meatballs like Lodge, who are considerably cheaper. Jake playing in the valuable areas, that he is suited to anyway, is far more important. I don't get the people saying "he's not a running threat and so can't play lock". Last I checked he's still 100 kilos of muscle running at your face. Oppositions need to respect that, and do. It's an overrated perspective.

Also, you'll never hear these calls from the ex-players or the media, because they understand the value of him at lock. Supercoach has changed the meaning of a "good" game. The stats won't tell you this, but I thought Jake was better than TKO last week. Many commentators agreed.

According to the media Adam Doueihi interested in Manly??? Apparently Jake to permanent front row with Doueihi 13! Sounds interesting…..
Big no from me. Better to give more game time to guys like Navale, Muagututia etc and bring in the highest quality recruit we can possibly land when the opportunity presents itself. He's a decent enough player but not worth a spot in our 30

West's have upped their 350k offer - assume it's now 400k.

So, cheap is not 450k. But he is being mentored by Seibold coach Moses. But at age 27, he is not part of the I don’t need to develop and coach narrative of Seibold.

i dont think hes a bad option, canterbury have proved there is value in having utility type players who can play multiple positions. If brooks or fogarty go down or both together we dont have much experience other than untried rookies he can fill those voids and still be a 13 or bench type player
