2026 recruitment & retention

Idk why people on here rate Sandon Smith, I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone throw dumber intercepts than him. Had the 1 great game on ANZAC round but that

If not Smith what about Rodwell? Many say he is better than Walsh.

Jake Elliott is another Chook whose name keeps coming up.

Let's hope Fogarty can be that link we are missing, but I think we are only getting more of the same. An aging half with big kicking game.

Hopefully Onitoni Large doesn’t go to Rugby & we will already have it sorted. He will probably debut at fullback or centre & move into the halves after Fogarty leaves

The stats don't tell us everything, but they do tell a story re: Walsh and Rodwell.

Walsh
13 NSW cup games
4 Tries
14 try assists
10 line break assists
8 forced line drop outs
94% tackle efficiency

Rodwell
11 NSW cup games
2 Tries
4 try assists
1 line break assists
4 forced line drop outs
89% tackle efficiency

Looks like the only ones saying Rodwell is better than Walsh, is Rodwell and his manager.

That sure looks good.

Yeah, he's not a game-breaking half by any means. But I will happily take an aging team player with a big kicking game who's also willing to tackle and take the ball to the line. As it stands, every time I notice Cherry in a game these days (and usually I don't, because it's almost like he's hiding out there in both attack and defence), I only expect bad things to happen.

Good analysis however I do not believe that Jakey T will medically retire.

Replace Waddell with Patolo…..

I think Foggys short & long kicking game is better than DCE to be honest! Fogarty is 31! Far from an aging 1/2 back. DCE is 37! Fogarty defense 90.6% efficiency, DCE 90.5%. Fogarty Average kicking meters 483.7, DCE 429.7. Fogarty try assists 18, DCE 13. So who’s better????

The club seems to be working quietly , extending the contracts of a few players but notably not others.

I doubt we’ll sign any superstars for 2026 but I’m hopeful we can pick up some potential young guns who are stuck behind players at the clubs they are with now. Humphreys was a great example of that , no chance at Manly so off to Souths for a run on position.

I think TKO will get another year , and Lodge as a cheapie is worth an extension ( hopefully backup only but you can never have too many props ).

If ( a very big IF) Jake takes a medical retirement , and obviously AoA is the same we really need a better than average Prop to partner Paseka & a lock ( maybe that’s Navale who knows ).

It appears Gordie lots of names will go to SL, so it’s either the current hooker in reserves ( Zaidas M) of we go shopping for a hooker as well.

I’d like to see another up and coming edge forward who could push Burbo a bit , Ola obviously takes one edge no issues.

So , we aren’t that short of players for 2026.

It’s going to be difficult with the Bears coming in but in 2027 the aim has to be two dynamic Props, with Lodge & TKO being released.

If we can snag two Props this year resign TKO, let Lodge go.

But replacing AoA is critical.
If Lodge isn't asking for much, I'd def keep him.

Blake Wilson is a great signing, he deserves a more permanent first grade and couldn't slot in at the Dogs roster, ive always rated him
Yeh but Hopoate+Saab+Faulalo+Garrick+Willet is enough wing depth

it’s decent if Garrick does end up leaving though.

Turpin is plod

We’ve signed Blake Wilson and are in talks with Jake Turpin.

The manly way…
Little bit of trivia, Blake Wilson is a pilot, and I have a few mutuals with him. Good guy from what I've heard. Dogs fans seem to rate him, but the knock on him is that he's pretty small.

We could do a lot worse than Turpin for a depth hooker, given Tevaga, Croker, and GCKT are all on the way out.

Where's the source @rich Blake Wilson is probably a depth signing to replace Vaega, and has only been held out of the Bulldogs side by Kiraz, and now Rinakama. Jake Turpin doesn't excite me in any way.

Dont think we need Pua'avase or Hart upgraded just yet
