2026 recruitment & retention

Who is making the decision? Siebold? Recruitment Manager? Agent? Garrick?
Garrick probably made this call know he didn't want to play under Seibold anymore.

But from a bigger picture surely Seibold is driving the recruiting he would be telling the recruitment managers the areas he thinks needs improving, and he would be meeting the players and talking to them above his vision hence why we haven't signed anyone good under him because he is a s**t coach, or his vision is terrible

… I don’t think anyone is making a decision. If they made the decision to drop DCE as captain and give the role to Jake that would have provided leadership and direction. It would have sent out a message you may be contracted to manly but if you don’t want to put the effort in you are free to leave.

Again, it seems that everyone doesn’t want to upset DCE… that’s not leadership.

Just sayin’

Siosiua Taukeiaho WWOS reporting that a new deal is almost done with an extension at the club, don’t get me wrong I think he has done enough to earn another year, though there is a bit to be learned from extending Nathan Brown for two years.
Yep,players like him and Brown at their age and body condition, should only ever be one year at a time signings and if they’re not happy with that or get a better offer elsewhere,so be it.Brown is the perfect example.Yes,he did end up with injuries but he wasn’t exactly setting the world on fire prior to that and his cult status masked his form

Would you add Jrbo to that list? TKO has been one of our better forwards. Jrbo hasn’t?

He is a much better extension for us than Brown was. In this instance recruitment has got it right.

No disagreement on form for me, the lessons learned from Browns two year extension are more about the injuries and the age of the player as @Nordburg highlighted, TKO does deserve an extension but for me a one year extension.
To be honest we should be able to manage his minutes with a 30 minute bench stint if we have some luck with injuries. He shouldn’t be our starting prop but he’s performed admirably considering.

Brown was useless in the battering ram role he was given by the coach. He has in my opinion an underrated passing game close to the ruck seen him put guys thru gaps with deft passes. Should have been players lock for 20 minutes a game

The fact that the only 2 players that aren’t flashy and consistently give 100% performances along with having extremely good defence in Garrick and Talau aren’t re-signed is a worry especially when we are signing cast offs from canterbury in their position. It is criminal that we aren’t signing them. Yet we offer guys like Saab long extensions. Don’t get me started on the forward pack. Sione Fainu should have been offered big money before he left for tigers, and we should have leaned on the guilt trip that we stood by his brother because nobody else did. Our recruitment is a joke.
You lost me at Garrick and extremely good defence. The rest I agree with.
