Why am I still hearing slander towards try scoring MACHINE Corey Waddell?

He's on not much money, scores 2 tries, makes 150+ run metres, 2 line breaks, 2 tackle breaks, 31 tackles, no missed tackles... and still cops strays on here. Tough crowd.

He's starting because he's filling in for an $850k edge forward, but when Haumole returns I'd have no problems with Corey as a bench forward in the 17 each week...
Is that you Corey?

Waddell should never play on an edge, he is an average fill in the middle at best.. but with injuries we had no choice…. Btw good clean out happening in the pathway to NRL… I am happy with the reset!
It’s not his fault though that injuries have meant that he’s become a permanent edge.

I agree , think his best position is prop, and back up prop at that.

People romanticize guys like Vic Mauro and Shane Rodney and those sorts who were the 17th man in a premiership team. Waddell is no worse than them yet cops **** on here because he is playing out of position on an edge and forced to start in a mediocre team.

If you want to blame someone try the recruitment team for making him first man up on the edge, or our highest paid players for not performing and improving our overall performance. We've got 99 problems but Corey waddell himself isn't one of them.

I see in the rumoured thread Crosby rumoured to the Panthers.

We were linked earlier this year.....but no, of course not ffs

The only possible attraction for a good young player to come to us is a guaranteed starting spot as our pigs are so ordinary, which admittedly on the surface seems like a good reason, but in reality is the opposite as the reason they would be guaranteed a spot is because we present as a badly coached , tumultuous football club- which isn't something agents want to do with prime cattle they want to manage for life.

If players are good enough to play first grade now they know it is an advantage to be part of a great system and spend a bit more time on the bench / lower grades learning the trade.

I actually think the club at some level realizes this and is staking our future on very young talent that doesn't have the cost and a promise of immediate first grade, although this does not at all excuse the simultaneous recruiting of old guys who don't suit the modern game. If you want to go old , get the right sort of old.

It looks like we may have some real diamonds in the rough in the 18 to 20 category.Credit needs to be given for getting this very young brigade. Risky strategy but probably the only viable one given the issues - let's hope it works.

I heard a rumour we are interested in the 21 year old back rower from Penrith Harrison Hassett. Only heard it from a mate that supports Panthers so I couldn’t say 100% if it’s true or not. Can anyone that has some inside knowledge confirm this?

Thanks. We need a few more rumours like this.
He's 21, made his debut for Panthers this year v Knights. He was selected in the Australian Schoolboys squad and was named the Panthers SG Ball Player of the Year for 2022.
