3 key back-up questions

by letting napa go they will be able to afford to sign 3 or 4 established internationals and have some money left over!
Sadly the way things are with Todd and his gang of merry men that is what he will allow to happen.
The inequality of the NRL as a professional sporting code on show right here. Sad to see

With the Klemmer and Napa announcement today you can see Marty will be off to the roosters, easts wouldn’t release Napa that easily without a replacement signing.
I agree this squad right now as we see it won’t be the complete squad that runs out round 1 in 2019

Mate, I think you'll find that the Roosters will simply rely on a local junior to fill the spot.

No way a club with such a proud history of nurturing its junior nursery would EVER go and cherry pick.......

True, but if we dont give him a go like all the other proactive coaches that gave all those other young promising players a go we will never know .
What we may be risking is those young players getting an opportunity at other clubs
Exactly Bozo..........one Tom Wright comes to mind. Given very little opportunity by Mr Barrett & the kid had no confidence going forward. Showed glimpses of brilliance when he dazzled & scored that try but was then dropped back to reggies. If a player is ready he is ready whether he's 18, 19, 20 or what ever! Other clubs took the gamble with youngsters & on most occasions it paid off! We need to give our kids a chance or they WILL go elsewhere & then the usual club bagging will start again.

That's yet to be seen Davo.........what you say makes sense, however not sure Des will release Marty unless he has someone his equal to sign?? Not many 'unsigned' around unfortunately, however contracts aren't worth the paper they're written on so who knows. Gonna be an interesting few months ahead......i'm expecting a few 'out of the blue' signings!

I agree Des will not let him go without a ready made replacement which I agree as you say there is not anyone really on the market that fits that mould.
Interesting few months ahead but in Des we trust

Backs: Kioa, Garrick, Elliott, Funa, Anderson then Hopoate. Either way, there is plenty of backup.

Halves: Hodkinson, Cust, Fainu (at a stretch).

Hooker: Fainu

Forwards: Gosweiski, Waddell, Keppie, Winterstein, Perrett, Sipley & others.

I think we are deeper next year, than last year to be honest.

At least 3-4 million left I’d say.

Remember most of their players utilise TPA’s, Gronk would be on 1.2 million but maybe only 200k from Cap.

With a 9.8 million cap they could in essence have double that.

And don’t worry about what NRL figures show , they probably know **** all.

So was Sam Murphy. Let's just hope his career is brighter than that. I get the feeling a lot of people are getting their hopes up on young hoppa for next season. He is only 18, he may not even be ready for first grade yet. Will he even get a game? How will he go playing against men? Will he be success in ISP grade even? To many variables at this stage to say whether he can come out guns blazing. For all we know he could fade out like Murphy.. i hope I'm wrong I just hope there isn't too much pressure being put on him.. let him develop first before throwing him in the cauldron

Meaney had a major knee injury just as he came of age and was never the same again, a bit of a shame but point is very valid
