It's a tournament none of us care about, held in the midst of the long season, thought up out of a desire for extra profits.....
.....
.....
but we'll all watch and cheers (or boo) the nations.

that's right it's

Canada
Sweden
Finland
usa

fighting it out to win.. ~checks notes~ a trophy.

So cheer loud for beaver nation and... who am I kidding, it's not on tv 'over there'.

Anyway:

All games in the 4 Nations Face-Off will be played in accordance with NHL rules. Each team will play three tournament games in a traditional Round Robin format, under the following points system: 3 points for a win in regulation time; 2 points for a win in overtime/shootout; 1 point for a loss in overtime/shootout; and 0 points for a loss in regulation time. The two teams with the best tournament record will then advance to a one-game Final.

Don't feel bad, I've no doubt Australia is next in firing line for 51st state status. @
Meanwhile, go Team Canada!

T'was 2-1 usa after 2 periods v Finland.

Then 3 goals in about 3 mins to the yanks blew it out to 5-1.

Game ended 6-1.

Pre-game the announcer asked that 'we respect the game and nations and their anthems' - as all the games are in Montreal and they were scared about too much booing of the usa anthem. Some boos ensued. w/e.

Finland beat Sweden in OT (yay) 4-3

usa def Canada 3-1 (empty net) in a pretty good game.

3 fights in the first 9 seconds.

Canada beat Finland 5-3.

It was 4-1 with 5 mins to go and Finland took their goalie off and Canada had their 'reserves' on.

Nek minute... 4-3.

Canada put the big boys back on and scored, so 5-3 it was.

Sweden beat the usa 2-1 (usa rested a few players as they're in the final)

This means the final is:

CANADA v usa. Thursday 8pm (local time) Boston .

Game over!!!!

Canada wins 3-2 in OT with @The '47ers main man conner mcDavid scoring a high right snap shot goal from in front!!!!

some miracle goal tending by Binnington kept us in the game.

what a game
what a result!

wooohooooo
