They are also based in Melbourne. Its a good look for the NRL to have a successful team based right in the heart of AFL territory. That was the league's goal right back to 1982 when the VFL moved South Melbourne to Sydney and the league's then main venue, the SCG, to become the Swans.

Why do you think they have been given Qld Cup teams as feeder clubs rather than having to try and fast track development of the Victorian Rugby League? Because if they had to rely on the Victorian clubs to provide players, even with someone as good as Bellamy as coach they would rarely get off the bottom of the ladder.
