AFB Next level 2018

First Grader
Big AFB has been only 2nd to Kapow as the big man who consistently bends the line and in tight games, helps win that arm wrestle in the ruck.
A few factors - NZ selection for the WC - is a Natural man mountain - after a FULL season in 2017 at NRL level will only come out more confident and prepared.
This bloke has a Massive future at Manly....

AFB needs to convert some flab to muscle. Still not at a Taumalolo fitness level@

Hopefully the RLWC will teach him some new skills

He is a different body type to Taupau which I feel is a good thing. He is a barrel so defensively teams will change their tackling technique keeping their minds busy. Different body types and mechanics plays a big roll in the make up of the team. He is coming along just fine and looking forward to see him punch out a big 2018

Joe Galuvao build - AFB is settling in well

A nice post, not at each other’s throats , I like it, in fact I like it a lot.

Off Season, seems to mean open warfare on here, and I’m ****ed if I know why!!

I hope he stays injury free and is a manly player for life. Really excited about his ongoing development and world cup is going to be awesome for his confidence. He is going to smash it next year.

Some new signings may fix that up Mark .

Yes there’s an air of frustration going on at present that’s for sure.

I’m thinking Thompson is dead in the water as a result of this current situation.

To be honest I’d have thought Thompson’s area was where we where more short of than anywhere else.

But who knows , I’m just your average footy fan who knows **** all!

Do we know if Scott Fulton is still with Manly after Bozo's exit @

Who is Manly's recruiter

He doesn't have the leg speed of Taupau or Gulavao.

Trying to think of past or present players who share his build or style...

He's unusual in that his leg speed is average to ponderous, yet his strength is such that he keeps powering through tacklers despite this.

Quite a unique combination, right now I can't think of a comparable type at top level (NRL/international) although there must be many.

Look there was a period (30 years or so) when I watched league only when I could which wasn't all the time, but my memory of the failed politician is that he was not a lumbering type, in fact he was dynamic due to having both power and mobility.
My take on AFB at this stage is he still needs a bit more mobility.
Can he improve there? If so he is one of the very elite props in the game. If not, he is still pretty good if he maintains his current form.

Got a tough off season ahead to become a starter, just didn't have the speed to keep up this year.

Personally think we get more out of Lussick when he starts than off the bench which is the opposite to AFB so would leave him there. Add Perrett and your top 4 props are looking good with Lussick the weakest link.
