Am I alone?

What I seen on the weekend. I'm not sure we pay DCE enough.

I don't know if anyone will ever be as good as Cliffy in my eyes.

But DCE is the only person in generation next, with the ability to remotely one day come close.

What people forget is he is one bloke, and he can only do so much. He is already doing the work of about 3 men in our team. I honestly think after 5 games, DCE should be on top of the Daly M's etc.

The coach clearly knew he needed a Carney, Hodgkinson.

But Baz continuing to refuse Hastings a run at 6 jumper is becoming close to insanity.

I will always miss Toovs.
I think it's a stretch to have him at the top of the Dally M's...he has been very patchy but that is all down to who is playing along side him, as you correctly point out. Chez is not the complete player (he struggles to organise and consistently take the right option on the 5th tackle) but he is a fantastic player when he is allowed to play "his" game. He should not be the scapegoat for our slow start to the year.

Yep, we have heard nothing from the club about an appeal and now we are getting the media into us agin. DCE stories rearing their heads...anything to keep up the hurt, yet nothing from the club. Yes the club the joint that runs our club and all of a sudden we are not important (again)...yep im disconnected big time.
Hardly watched a game this year

To be fair if this goes to court ( as I expect it will) their lawyers would be telling them to say almost nothing.

Profess their innocence, sag they are appealing but that would be about it!!

I don’t have an issue with this approach at this point in time.

During the tough times I always remember 79 and 80 seasons when, after our greatest decade of 4 titles we missed the finals for the 1st time in my lifetime then, as I was in my early teens.
I felt totally frustrated and lost.
What followed was some good years BUT also the indignity of losing back to back GFs against the slime.
Great team that they were though.
Then came 87 and washed it all away.
But 2 years later turmoil again with the sacking of club legend Alan Thompson as coach and captain courageous Fatty Vautin and I was in territory I never thought the journey of supporting this club would take me.
And so on.....
We've since added 3 more premierships and, like a champion boxer, we are in the corner getting the sh*t punched out of us atm but we'll come out of it and yet again punch the rest of these bustards right around the ring !!!
GO MANLY !!!!!!!!

Turns out you're not alone at all, Budgewoi Eagle.
For me, it's probably tied into my general disenchantment with the NRL. Even after I stopped enjoying watching other teams play, I'd still want to watch every Manly game and cheer the boys on. Nowadays, not so much. And yes, I'm still angry about the way the club treated Tooves. Going further back, I'm still angry about the way Des Hasler treated the club and, more importantly, the fans.
It does feel like our identity has been slowly diluted or compromised over the last five or six years. But there's always something to be grateful for and always somebody to cheer. For me, it's Jake Trbojevich. That kid is Manly to the core, and watching the way he plays the game gives me hope for the future.

maybe so @Mark from Brisbane but I dont buy that. They have gone to ground and let Greenturd sleep easy (in the media anyway). I hope u r right but my gut says we have been screwed over and shut up, take your medicine...its all gone quiet.

The Penn era of total control certainly seems to have corresponded with a few issues in and around the club, and the shafting of some club legends, etc.

Coincidence or not, I can't fully answer.

Any chance you can give the pre game speech this week? Got me pumped.
Nah Gus would just take over.
No one is allowed to say anything at the moment with that clowns opinion on the loose everywhere you look.
Or the talking gargoyle Rothf*ck.

Geez some of you need to get out more, Manly are my footy team, love em but not my life.

Also never really understood the intense Penn hate, the guy is putting in his own cash so I still have a team to scream for on the weekend, good on him

Bring on Brookie on Sunday

TB already has a rubbish win % and his pig headed stubbornness refusing to accept he go to it wrong with persisting with Croker will mean his future is coaching some 2nd division rabble in Super League. Do I care about that? Nup... u make the calls, stuff it up and deal with it. What makes me angry is in the meantime our club goes backwards to a point where over the next few yrs we're inconsistent bottom dwellers losing the smallish supporter base we're currently clinging on to while other clubs are building and making a future for themselves. TB bleeds $$$$ and career prospects, not maroon and white. But ironically as our great club falters so will his career. Its a lose/lose situation folks and I'm sad too and caring less and less each season. And I went to Manly Infants in 1975 ffs. Not cool.

This!!
I used to spend heaps traveling from qld to go to Games. But there’s more to life than a footy team.

Haven’t been to brookie since rd26 2014

But I’ve been overseas 4 times.

Losing games against sides we should be flogging makes it worse.

Not having a go .. but ... tell me which teams aren't ..... it has been thus for 10 years ... it is modern day rugby league ...

And think well before you say Warriors and Dragons ..... both are just as likely to get flogged by Parra and Raiders at any moment.

Even allowing for any short term or occasional disappointing and negative phases for Manly , it still has its own identity and stand alone status . In contrast with their opposition on Sunday where once proud and separate identity clubs Wests Magpies and Balmain Tigers will take the field as a merged club . Manly still have the standing of a competitive club , long term good association prospects with the Black Town workers , improved junior path ways and competitive teams now and with the Penn"s financial input are still able to stay financially viable . Always a downer of course when Manly lose very winnable games but i guess that is what keeping the faith in your footy club is all about and to keep on supporting them and largely unconditional .

@Budgewoi Eagle ... don't you go all lilly livered on me! .... and yes events and circumstances over the past 5 years have dented my life-time passion and commitment to the club. Private ownership was always going to indelibly change the fabric of the club. When it was a lovable and generous Max Delemege I was proud ... The Penn's not so much.

Football clubs have always been festering pits of ambition, factions, feuds and scandal ... but most often the petty bitching was controlled for the greater good. Penn rightfully or wrongfully won the boardroom battle. Since then however he has not had a clear shot because enter all the salary cap and other bulldust. I will be interested to see how he and Gorman go with a clean slate in front of them ... good I hope.

But the real Manly ... that heart and soul culture thing that none of us can really articulate doesn't belong to Penn, or Baz or even Jake ..... It belongs to the fans on the hill ... it is a collective energy that transcends all the bullshiit we type and moan about ..

Budgie, watch the game on Sunday ... and when Manly run out and you see the Maroon and white hill rise and cheer as one with the banners waving .... you will not be alone .. ever.

It is all perception!, we are fed a regular diet of anti Manly stuff, day in and day out, cause that makes money for the NRL and its cronies in the media. For two years its been about betting scandals, salary cap investigations, a record amount of players turned over, the club has had 5 CEOS over the last 6 years and the internal confilct at the club has been so damaging!!

We have our own feel good story, The Turbo brothers are going to be at the heart of your next great team, we have some talented kids coming through and we need to give them the opportunity ASAP.

I have said it a few times now, the club and the football club has to come together and have the one goal to make our club the best we can be. This is long overdue!!
