another sportingnews.com anti-Manly scoop

I completely agree with the fact that Penn won’t swallow his pride, but to say we’re on the brink of death is absolutely an over exaggeration. I heard both Toovey and Fulton on radio yesterday - Toovey said this is a small tick in time and the club will over come it, while Fulton said we have been through the Northern Eagles days which was far worse and will not be dying.

I don’t think that this is the end of Manly. We’ve just had a coach who sooks and uses excuses when things go wrong instead of using the set backs as a catalyst for the famous US AGAINST THE WORLD mentality. We end up with a team that accepts mediocrity as the norm. There doesn’t seem to be any accountability for their performances. If we had had Dessie or Toovey as coaches we would have finished in the top 8, maybe even fighting out a top 4 place with the team we have now. The talent is there just that we need a different coach to get the team to behave like a team and not a group of individuals and sooky ones at that.

Fighting to avoid a spoon.

2v concerned about Relocation, No league at Brookie or on the entire North Shore.

The owners mending a bridge with Toovey in some capacity, I would have thought that would be a popular and positive step towards increasing community support, Memberships, dollars. But we are informed egos are too big an that is not going to happen whilst the current ownership is in place.

There is a article in another thread from the last couple of days, where again our lack of finances, members, crowd numbers sees a merger with the Bears put forward, there is some compelling financial arguments in favour of that Norths Merger as well.

For some of you I see comfort is currently gained that the Northern Eagles days were worse, and the club survived that.

And that is the current status of play.

But Jesus IMO the Northern Eagles was not Manly? As far as I'm concerned during that merger Manly was actually bloody dead / we were extinct.

If people don't think the clubs current situation is dire.

Can I ask on what basis, does one conclude Penns ego won't soon see the Sea Eagle extinct?

The concern is that without a winning team the Penns will have to keep Kicking the can every year to make up the losses
How long before they take the nrl’s $10m relocation offer?
Next year will be our last at Brookie imo you can't keep dreaming of a new upgrade stadium that we have read about for 30 years it ain't happening. We will move to new Allianz stadium no 1 will go but we will still be more financially secure. Can't keep paying 45k per game to hire the worst ground in the country and on a good day get 11k through the gates. When you can go to new stadium get paid 45k per game and don't need to worry about the crowd. Lowest home crowds for 50 years (even in good years our crowds are poor) terrible membership numbers worst ground in the country an owner who needs nrl grant early every year and people refuse to accept we are in trouble. Sure we may get a new owner but with these fundamentals how long would anyone keep tipping money in?

That's just what owning a footy club costs.
No one makes money except the boncos.
Penn's perpetually overseas and old man Penn passes it off to Lyall but doesn't give him anything to go by.
And I think the relocation money is a thing of the past.
