Api / Fainu 2019

First Grader
Both Api and Fainu have good motors and could easily play a full game imo.

Can see Api starting with Fainu coming off the bench, there are big wraps are on the youngster, who will be putting pressure on Api for Round 1 to take his starting position.

The successful teams from the golden 2007 - 2013 often had the impact dummy half coming off the bench, with the rotation of some big, reliable players also.

Will this be the trend for 2019 ??

Agree about you summation of both, i just wonder what Des has instore for team structure.
He has moved on creative nines in the past and played big bodies in the 6 and simple hookers in the 9.

Interested to see the round one line-up.

One of them will be surplus after this year. Be interesting to see who comes out in top.

You can’t carry two top flight hookers in your cap without tipping the scales. I expect fainu to be worthy of a starting position somewhere after this year.

I am very worried about how des plays hookers, no running game which is the strong suit of both these players. Des destroyed Lichaa

Hopefully Des will learn from his time at the dogs . We all learn and are wiser from our mistakes

I think it will be, api needs a rest and it makes sense to send fainu on late in the half with his speed and foot work.

Good point . Api is a tremendous work horse and late in each half I have noticed fatigue and this also affects his passing game . A fresh Fainu with a different running style will unsettle the opposition defence .

Depends if Fainu has improved his defence. Was probly brought in too early last year due to injuries and hastings. Cant have a hooker that misses tackles.

And didn't Des punt Damion Cook? He seems to go alright.

I would play both this year, one on the bench and rotate them as they are also cover for the halves, Api is a better defender right now and young Fainu has great ability at dummy half and is quicker off the mark.

I think Api is very good for 50 minutes a game but when he tires he goes downhill fast.

Having the option it would be silly not to play both and let them rip in. If one is having a blinder then leave them on.

Both can also be used well for halves coverage if required
