Are they the fittest ever, yet?

Fair to say that there were still some regular momentum shifts in N R L for quite few seasons before the recent or last season "s rule changes . Even last season , in that early round game against the Eels . Manly came back from something like 16 points down to run them down [ and obviously should have won ]. More of a full strength Manly side then but just get a bit bemused again[ and even with less full strength side ] , why Manly can not or try to make the adjustment to the new rules and as all of the other sides and coaches are striving to . They are not some prima donnas that should be exempt from making the adjustments from lack of effort or attitude or less attentive coaching . Wonder if Manly were doing well under the revised rules if there would be as much current criticism as there seems now of the new rules . Each to their own however , not saying that the new rules were essential but the way the game was going in terms of predictabilty and regimented play , think overall that they were desirable and needed . Manly just better get with it and do those one %" s better and better at getting up playing the ball , releasing the tackled player and not conceding so many penalties . Really think that the squad is up to it , just have to show it on the paddock .

All good points Al, when these rules came in last year some teams immediately adjusted , and benefited , sadly we didn’t!!

I'd been hoping for a return to the one-referee system forever, and I reckon that alone would have sped the game up. If that was the only change they made, I would have been happy.

The six-again penalty is fine in theory, but in practice it's awful: the referee has unlimited discretion to make **** up as he or she goes, waving six again at the drop of a hat, often for no apparent reason. Sure, it brings fatigue back into the game - it's hard to not be fatigued when you're back-pedalling and tackling for 10 minutes straight - but it tends to do it around the 20-minute mark, which is way too early.

To those last two points...DCE alm ost always wins the 2km trial...leading by example! And if I recall correctly, Kieran Foran was always the strongest when considering strength-to-weight ratio (Back in the day). Think he had a 135kg bench, possibly?

Edit - found An article from 2016 - apparently Foran’s bench is closer to 180kg!
Hell look after the pec

They're all looking " deceptively quick" and are "potential superstars". If we take it "one game at a time" and "want it more than the other team" ,"give 110%" , "play the full eighty minutes" and "take care of our defence, the rest will take care of itself." " We're better than our record indicates".

... and do all the 1% ers and listen to our mums ..
