The technology tracks each of those components and in theory it should be instantly identifiable if players are onside or off-side from kicks, if the ball has gone forward or back and the direction the ball comes out of the hands when passed.

Interesting - as I reckon that's the big one the technology has to get correct. So the players get to wear transmitters hey. Beep boop warning will robinson, I'm a robot. lol

The only point of it will be to stop the howler. While Manly has got the short end of some doozies over the years, I think the latter possibility is far more likely.
Plenty of great tries that look fine to any footy fan will be pulled back on a technicality ruled by a computer chip.

Why do we need technology to tell us what our eyes have seen? We don't have technology when the slightest bobble, fumble or knock-on is ruled upon; we rely on the eyes of the officials. Its their opinions. There's no technology involved.
As I've stated before there is a simple solution to overcoming the "no ruling on forward passes" dictum; allow the vidiots to have discretion to make a ruling on every aspect of the match whenever they see an obvious error.
