I think he will be a very good coach, with the potential to be the first 'outsider' to take Manly to another premiership.

I am still in the too early to tell. Last year there were glimpses (cows game and the following 2 weeks) of what looked like Trent getting things his way and the 9's looked a bit like that. Maybe he has more control this year and can go in a direction he wants.

Given we essentially left 80% of our starting 17 at home, to lose in extra time of the quarters was really good.

The other thing I took from the 9s was we are looking good for depth if we have injuries. something we were missing in '16.

Agree that it was nice to see Barrett showing a bit of passion with his half-time "pep talks", but I still can't shake the impression that he's not too bright. I know I'm being unfair, but every time I look at him I see him getting slapped across the face by Nathan Brown or doing push-ups in his undies on top of a bar. It's going to take a few winning seasons for me to forget all that.

The thing that stood out for me was the teams fight. They were badly behind in most matches and came back. The Manly of last year would have stood by asking for autographs as the opposition players scored.
