Barrett exit could spark Brookie exodus

Daily Telegraph

THE shambles at Manly continue with suggestions as many as eight Sea Eagles players are reconsidering their futures at Brookvale now that head coach Trent Barrett won’t be there next season.

Michael Maguire is the frontrunner to replace Barrett, although he could be a short-term fix to Brisbane’s coaching woes if Anthony Seibold joins the Broncos in 2020.

In a sign of the times, some of those reconsidering their futures have yet to consider that little inconvenience in their drawer called a contract.

Several sponsors have questioned their futures with the club, and Brookvale Mazda has already dropped off.

The Sea Eagles are riding it out, hoping more bad news doesn’t break from inside the club.

WHILE there has been some outrage among fans regarding the coaching circus, there was little angst among the chief executives on Tuesday.

Club bosses were in a room and had an opportunity to raise anything, including the prospect of the NRL having rules in place to stop coaches being poached more than a year before their contract expires, but there was silence all around.

Well done Michael Carayannis and Paul Kent for this groundbreaking story.
Players have never left at the end of a season or when there is a change of coaching staff.

Some might not be in the plans of a new coach anyway.

Penn should have sold the club to the middle east while $12 million was on offer.

Ill tell you a fact. At 8 am this morning, there were at least 2 daily telegraph reporters at Narrabeen asking Trent what was going on because they had no idea.

6 hours later these same hacks publish an article saying half the team is leaving.

Soak it up subscribers. This the level of journalism you get for your $7 a week.

What a magnificent example of a journalistic masterpiece.
Was Kent and that carryonass bloke really responsible?
Might as well let the work experience boy loose on the keyboard from here on...

My mother was the masthead editor for a major fairfax publication as little as a year ago.

Her favourite thing to say at a bbq was, we dont report the news, we invent the news.

That being said she was a straight shooter but you get the gist. If you can sensationalise, then you have a job.

only ones leaving are twent and the 8 flies on his back..

Who even reads this garbage, pity the article was not about the under performing players that were leaving but then that would the truth and in the world of PK and the other wombat that would leave them without a job.

So the same “journos” that bemoan the all about me culture from modern day players are the same ones who will write crap about players following a coach

There is no chance in the world 8 players would jump ship because of Barrett. It’s dribble, just find it humorous that lay the boot in.

Oh no the sky is falling.,, Lewis Brown could be one of them !!!!

Kent really is writing some cr@p and obviously is a Barrett @rse licker

What legacy will Trent leave behind if he leaves ?
What has Trent contributed to the Manly club ?
What does Trent mean to the Manly Sea eagles ?
The answer is fck all !!!
The sooner he goes the better .
Trent was a rookie that turned into a sookie when the going got tough
No club would be crazy enough to offer him a head coach role .
No way .

Tbh ,I expect a few high priority players will be pissed ,not sure about all of them tearing up their contracts though.
Wouldn't be surprised if they don't turn up tonight mentally and have 50 or more put on them.
