Mr O'Farrell also pledged the Opposition's support for the Central Coast Bears' tilt at securing an NRL licence by 2013.

He met Bears CEO Greg Florimo and operations boss David Fairleigh at Mount Penang Parklands where he announced the Opposition would provide $3.5 million should the team's bid succeed when it is lodged with NRL boss David Gallop on March 31, just days after the election.

And we get jaxk sh!t fron the Gov - we are being royally screwed..............

We are blue ribbon Liberal area and we can't even get the Lib party leader to support us. Somehow the fat Tigers fan will get behind the Bears!? I grew up a Bears fan but this is bs and I'm sick of it. Let the Bears go, support a team who exists, not one who is hoping to get a start in an expansion that isn't guaranted, against bids that will do more to help a TV rights deal and expand the game which is the point of expansion.

Hitching your wagon to the Bears is a no risk promise because it won't be happening in the near future. Just like their alleged NRL ready  sponsors....they won't be writing any cheques in the next 5 years that's for sure.

From what I've read our guys haven't been in touch with any politician for two years.  Go figure.  Any money not forthcoming to us is the fault of our management.

The thing I like about the Bears is their chances of winning the premiership remains exactly the same whether they have a team in the comp or not.

At least the bears have a major sponsor and a pledge fo $3.5m from the new state government.

So would you rather be in their position or Manly's?

Manly's position, we have a team in the competition.

If we don't get a proper paying major sponsor relatively soon, we will be in their position. I don't believe the owners will pour money in endlessly, a few years yes, but endlessly no.

I was talking to Dave Fairleigh at my sons footy sign up and said they have almost 5 million in sponsors for the first 5 years.
