Big send-off for legend Menzies

A one-club man - the rarest of rugby league creatures - Menzies will play his last premiership game at Brookvale Oval tonight.

A place where he, along with his famous Albion head-gear, made his debut way back in 1993.

A place where he has felt every type of emotion.

A 16-year roller-coaster, with rugby league fans everywhere enjoying the ride, but now it is time to get off.

The end of an era tonight, when the Sea Eagles take on the Titans.

"The team is obviously aware of what a milestone game it is for Beaver," Sea Eagles captain Matt Orford said.

"There are a lot of reasons why we need to perform well. He is a big part of that and we owe it to him to make sure he plays his last premiership game at Brookvale Oval with a win."

Manly CEO Grant Mayer called on fans to get out to Brookvale Oval tonight and see off the club legend.

In the ultimate tribute, the Southern Stand will be renamed the Fulton-Menzies Stand in recognition of the all-time leading forward try- scorer, along with Immortal and club legend Bob Fulton. "It is a big night for the club," Mayer said.

"It is a chance for the fans to get out and thank Beaver for all the wonderful memories. He has been a great ambassador for the club and he deserves a fitting send-off."

And with the Knights upsetting the Melbourne Storm on Saturday night, a win over the Titans will put the Sea Eagles back into minor premiership contention.

"We can't look too far ahead," Orford said. "We just have to turn up and worry about the Titans."

Despite wearing the No. 11 jersey, Menzies will play at five-eighth outside captain Orford. The 34-year-old requested the No. 11 jersey in which he made his club debut back in 1993.

Injury to Titans fullback Preston Campbell (jaw) has forced John Cartwright to reshuffle the Gold Coast backline.

Esi Tonga, the brother of former Queensland centre Willie Tonga, has been named to make his debut.

Cartwright will finalise his squad before kickoff.
