All talk about signing different players in recent times and some of it a reflex in relation to losing footy games.
Well I base this call on what he brings and what is missing.
Regardless of some great forwards and the rise of Pasekzilla....there is still a lack of "Fire" in the pack.
Most of our most successful past results have included a Rambo Gibbs, Choc Watmough, Terry Randall aggressive types and today, our closest to this would be Keppie...and he potentially will continue to add in this area.
Thing is, Smith has this in spades and is the real deal today and would add that extra starch....he is a Bulldog out of dummy half, but has not taken a backward step as a power forward when called upon and thrives on the contact, which inspires not just fans, more importantly his team mates.
I like this blokes style and maybe if there is the dollars available, worth a look - what's the thoughts.

Still paying Fainu "s contract until his case is resolved ? Puts a bit of a dampener and restriction on securing another capable 9 . Excellent player but so many good back rowers already at Manly now . and personally would prefer Fainu as our i st choice 9 and the way he was complimenting our forward play last season . Very competitive and determined footy player and certainly take your point on what he does bring to a side in a forward role in general with his aggressive style ..

Yeah we are in a tough spot as it all hinges on Fainu.

Certainly if he is found guilty we need to ho to market. Levi is no a long term starter. Smith would be great pending what happens at the Storm.

Another option may be that UK hooker Ive heard mentioned a number of times as wanting to test himself out here and is meant yo be quality.......his name alludes me atm

Fainu will be given his trial date this Friday so we should at least get a rough idea of when things should start to get moving on that front.

No way Melbourne will let him go, that rate him very highly
They would be loathe to but if Cam plays on and Harry returns I think he will move.

He wants to start at hooker and if he signs a pre contract after November I doubt they will stand in his way.

Look at Addo Carr

Daryl Clark is the one

Great player - tough and skilful. Would take him in a heartbeat but I don't think Melbourne will let him go, and if they did, odds are he wouldn't end up here.

We need to give our forwards blood transfusions from Ben Kennedy, Cement Gillespie, Watmough, Glenn Stewart.

He and Grant can play in the same side no doubt, but both want to be starting hooker.

B Smith wants to be a long term 9 and the kiwis long term 9. He is happy in his current role behind Smith he will not be behind Grant.

One will be playing elsewhere come 2022 if not earlier

I think Olakau'atu will develop into the fire in the belly of our pack.

AFB already has the aggression but sometimes fails to control it. From what I've seen of Olakau'atu, he's got the controlled aggression to intimidate the opposition but remain on the right side of the law.

I remember a while ago Kiwi coach Madge apparently telling Brandon if he wants to be the Kiwi hooker at the next World Cup (can’t see that happening atm). But anyone if they do have one, he wanted Brandon to put in a full season as the first choice 9.
Personally I don’t think the Storm would let him go anyway.
