Key area's have really killed Manly the past 2 games - Defence is on Top of that list!!
The lack of sting....players losing contacts....losing the ruck....communication....Line speed.
Stats show a massive number - personally prefer to watch the flow of the game and feeling the effort - including off the ball and the 1% effort plays....clearly down.
There have been recent calls of - Already over achieved...great season regardless of what happens from here - ect.
Personally don't buy that stuff at all - yes, have definately proved some non believers that the wooden spoon can be jammed elsewhere, but also shown the ability to match any team with Melbourne the only standout side that needs to be the yardstick, Manly and others need to meet. After proving the team is a genuine contender as a top 4 team....would hate to see this side dissolve and accept the tag of over achievers in 2017....but based on recent form, are in danger of doing so....
Defence starts with attitude, so hopefully this area can be resolved....the attack also is struggling, due to fighting from poor field position due to this backpeddling defence....including kicking from deep and under pressure.
A hungry, enthusiastic defensive effort will be the backbone of any 2017 revival.
Break out the tackling bags and break some Roosters in half next Sunday....really need to get back on track and defensively improve big time, to upset the Chooks.
