Not really. I remember us signing Gutho for two more years and I was happy as he was a local junior.
Then within a couple of months, Twent told him to leave.
I always thought that was a stupid decision, as did many supporters.

Good for you mate. If it helps I believe you! At the time he left most including myself thought it was for the best I don’t recall any massive threads on the topic? In reality how can any team that actually has to work with the salary cap carry 2 top notch fullbacks?

I remember people on here not being too happy about it. Myself included. He was playing centre back then and anything but a top notch fullback at the time, and already extended for 2 years on which wouldn't of been big dollars.

Yep, shameful treatment of a gun local junior who was always going to be a very good player.
He would have made a wonderful 5/8th. Just what we needed in 2016 after Foran flogged off. If we had a coach that could coach that is.

We were always going have to pick between gutho and Tom. Gutherson’ s no. 1 position was always number 1. Looking back to 2017 and wondering what could have been sounds like thinking back in the day of what would have happened if I dated Jane instead of your wife etc.. Romantic nostalgia🙂

The ironic thing is that even with gutho leaving we had stronger squad in 2016 and then also 2017 to 2019 than we have this year.
We had Dylan walker when he was playing for the blues, Dce, Jake,
Tom, Marty in his prime, api plus AFB then Lyon matai, snake and nate Myles.
We should have been top 4 but Barrett could not coach at all. Barrett is the biggest failure of a coach I’ve ever seen and I’ve been following the game since 1980
