Caleb Navale

I have to disagree about having all forwards on the bench. Backs get hurt too and when it happens it involves a host of positional problems unless you have someone like TT2 in reserve. I believe TT2 is an ideal interchange. Obviously he can cover most backline positions but he is also big enough to fill-in in the backrow in an emergency.
TT2 would always be in my top 17.
Yeah I can see both sides with the bench make up. Neither is right or wrong without a crystal ball, but I do wonder if currently going with a back, some consideration to how many minutes Nav might be good for at the top grade comes into the mix.

He's run out big minutes in ressies but as we all know the pace of the game in first is something plenty of newbies struggle with.

Just hope that this time he gets more than 10 minutes on the field.
A young player coming into NRL probably burns a lot of nervous energy just from the enormity of the occasion, suddenly playing in front of large crowds and massive tv audiences.
Physically I'm sure he's fit so he should be able to play a bit longer this time, and build up minutes as the year goes on.

I think TT2 is an ideal 'back' to have on the bench as he can cover almost all backline positions. Plus he is strong enough to play as a backrow forward in an injury emergency. Pity he's one of our regularly injured troop.
Having Clayton on the bench is risker because he plays more limited positions. However, with Turbo on one leg and Saab injury-prone I can see why he was picked on the bench.

I don't mind the idea of having TT 2 on the bench for the backs/forward cover but I'm not convinced Seibs wants to use him that way. I just haven't seen him play there or look like playing there yet. I'd feel better about it if Seibs came out and said he is going to use him that way. I just think having him or Clayton on the bench in case a back gets injured is a waste of a forward rotation. And our current plodders need regular rotation. If the backs are a risk, they shouldn't be playing.

You must have seen the chaos an injury to a back causes a team with four forwards on the bench.
The problem I see with the fowards we keep selecting on the bench is that they are 'impact' players, on for short stints. Such as BFB, Bully, Gordon...
I'm pleased that Navale is on the bench now as he can play long minutes, although he is virtually untried at the top level.
Overall, I think we have very average bench players (Bully excepted) compared to most other NRL teams.

Yep, that's fair. Burbo to centre used to work ok but as he's bulked up, he's less effective. If TT2 (or someone else) can become a back row/centre, that would be great.

Waddell can cook the family BBQ
Without wishing to diss on Waddell, this highlights the complexities of having family members by blood (or legal means, on the roster.

Bob Fulton having his sons in the squad created the odd piece of friction. A big shout out to Paul Vautin!

Manly ultimately had huge problems with the Fainu family. Enough said.

The Glenn Stewart denouement in 2014, created some challenges for Tooves, which didn’t help his cause. I don’t think any of that was his fault, rather it was Greenberg and his crew that drew a line in the salary cap sand. What an arsehole.

Now we have these Large kids. I hope that all ends well.

Edit: the problem is not the likes of Waddell. The issues lie elsewhere. As we all know, apart from the Penrith game, the team has been very ordinary since DCE’s big announcement.
