Blocker may have hit the nail on the head re our defence.

We are “catching” the opposition not hitting hard.
Not maybe - 100%
That’s why it always seems they win quic play ball.....contact allows them to poke the nose through- from there it’s either quick play ball or second man in to slow it- penalty

If you tackle a bloke on the halfway line and he makes it to the 45 you've got 2x+ the chance of being penalised as opposed to pushing the man back to his own 45.

Half the penalties of hold down amount to nothing more than post contact meters.

Back in 2008, we used to attack in defense, but we had guys like Matai, Menzies and others that could smash people.

Need some more intimidation.

Klemmer spot ran at Fainu tonight. Barrett did the right thing in replacing him for a while tbh.

Too many Manly players in the first half looked like they had been watching episodes of ‘Catch Kandy’ on YouTube, prior to kickoff.

Then waiting for Mungunyah Walker to show them the way.

Spot on.

How good was it back late 2000s when you'd put a kick in, the opposition team woudl take the ball on their own line and you just knew, even though we were in defense, we were about to win the game.

Mate the old saying big defence wins big games is a given..,,
When teams pile on points many claim great attack....we’ll partly, but this will in 95% be due to robust, dominance in defence....unless you have Cliff Lyons who can destroy defences against the run of play

I really like the look of our team with Hodgkinson at hooker and Walks at 5/8. Not sure we are missing API at all.

We have barely hurt a team in defence since 2013.

We have just the softest pack in the NRL.

Jake is possibly the most copybook tackler in the game....unfortunately with these peanuts running the game a great legs tackle must release instantly, while the Storm ballarinas can hold and dance with s player for 7- 8 seconds

Tough critics you mob. I actually enjoyed seeing some sting finally in our defence tonight for the first time in a while. We defended well.

Apart from a couple of notable tackles (well done Parker on one of them), there was no sting in our Defence. This "wait and catch the player" is a big reason our team has performed badly this year.

I am not sure why we are doing it? Is it to conserve energy for attack?

We have arguably the biggest pack in the comp and currently, no one finds our forwards intimidating. A player knowing his hit up was heading straight for AFB and Kapow should be thinking "this will hurt" but instead he is caught and rolled onto the ground.

Joel moves up quick in defense and hits hard but he can't do it all by himself ... really Marty for all his strength is not a hard hitter ... he is probably our worst defensive forward
