Coach Seibold thoughts so far.... so good

Didn't he and DCE mention something about switching up our style, to be something more suited for finals? I can't believe they weren't doing it earlier, but if we stop playing stupid, we are a much better chance of knocking off the Top 8 teams we play soon.
It seems like our style of play definitely has changed over the last 3 games and the Tigers/Souths games were used to adjust to the changes, maybe some of us were a bit too harsh on those wins.. I know I was! Definitely something that should have happened sooner.

I know there's been a bit of talk from Seibold and the Trbo's about Tom returning to fullback eventually but no way I'd be going back to that now while we're playing well. The backline as a whole looks far more balanced in the current state and I fear Tom back at fullback would see us becoming too Tom-centric again and he goes back to hammering his body taking 30 (mostly) ineffective hit ups a game. In the centres he's been able to pick his moments and we're getting more quality over quantity, not to mention the added benefit of Garrick being back on the wing. Credit to Seibold for this one because I'm liking what I'm seeing here.

How do you see our gameplay has changed?

Well Harry Grant made his season high tackle count, (63 in 80 minutes) which dented his running game.

That seems like a huge change from what we were doing earlier on the season.
It was mentioned after the game (by DCE?) that this was a deliberate strategy. The fact we even had a deliberate strategy - let alone an effective one - was a pleasant surprise.

And it's been noted over the last few weeks that we appear to have adjusted our style of play along with moving players (Tom and Rueben) around. We are playing more direct, not trying to shift the ball wide on every play no matter where we are on the field, and are looking a little more patient and composed overall. (To be honest, I thought we were a little too patient against the Storm in that second half. We needed more points.)

There are signs of coaching, along with the signs of life.

You are pretending he was some hyped up youngster like Joseph Suaalii. His name was barely mentioned until Seibold took him on the Vegas trip when no one expected it. Of course he deserves credit for developing him as well as another player like Koula who has gone to a new level this year
His talent was recognised way back when he was playing juniors and won trophies with the Fainu brothers. You make it seem like Seibs has such an astute eye for talent. He's gone through the Manly pathways since he was 12. If anything its his old man Hoppa Sr who brought him through and deserves credit.
Maybe this pic should wake you up....

My big problem with Tom going back to FB is that it pretty much ensures Reubs returns to centre as you can’t throw young Loppa in there at the back end of the season with no gameday experience…
Imo Tom is better at FB but Reubs is our best winger and we need Loppa in the team (and thankfully he is a bloody good FB)…
