David Fifita

so they made Fifita an offer, and as you say ''with KPI's inserted from the start, to make sure he would backflip and were happy with the result''.

huh?

Wouldnt you just not make Fifita ?
I agree..makes no sense.
Simple fact is Fafita backflipped and Roosters ended up with egg on their face..
Nearly lost Angus Chrighton over this saga as well.. only to have to then throw a bucket load at him to keep him happy..
Roosters are not immune to F@#k ups.. they are just another club.

This thread needs a big Willie! I suppose Feleti mateo was a decent-sized name as well.
Only going off name recognition, nothing to do with ability or contributions.
Stars in their heyday, but to mind they weren't big name signings when they joined Manly. Just solid experienced players (at best)

That’s correct …to make sure he ,in this case Fifita , or any other player , would backflip if they have any doubts about meeting KPI s …like any employer better to know from the start if someone does not want to work hard.As a club you want the player to backflip if they have doubts before they get there because it destabilises the whole joint when a new player who joins the club on big bucks and is not putting in That’s why nick pulled the contract the day after Fifita rang him to say he was having doubts. They are happy with result and comfortable they dodged a bullet.

ok but that didn't answer my question - there is a reason the Eels are trying to dump him elsewhere.

2021 Ryan Matterson maybe - but have you seen him play lately? (spoiler alert he is either unavailable or in NSW cup)
Not sure what's happening with him currently. Maybe he is trying to get released and isn't trying or interested.

This is contrary to everything published or commentated on..
Seriously your in dreamland..

KPIs.. yes.. but these are footballing contracts .. the KPIs are in line with physical requirements the club expects..
Ie.. body fat ratios, training goal performance based, and beep test results, turning up to training and club functions.. all of which are not actually grounds to sack a player but give them warnings.
No player has lost a contract from these KPIs.

other KPIs are bonus payment based like playing origin, playing "x" amount of NRL games etc..again nothing to have a contract cancelled or a player to backflip..

There are certainly no KPIs relating to on field performance.. total BS

The players union would have a "canary" if a club had on field performance as a KPI and further if it meant a players contract could be cancelled and then terminated.

Total BS @Jimmie.. your a Roosters stooge.. or totally biased pro Roosters fan boy.

Please enough with the crap..

Fafita backflipped no Nick Politis KPIs at all.. so you really think people are that stupid..

Why do you think there a players union?.. certainly not to allow clubs to put on field KPIs in a contract that can then trigger termination.

And as I said all the other KPIs are training and official club attendance and they are not issues that could terminate a contract.

You are now simply making **** up to justify your position….i never said anything about on field performance KPI s champ you did .i never said the contract was terminated because Fifita did not meet KPIs you did. In fact I think James hooper reported at the time politis pulled the contract because Fifita had expressed some doubts . The roosters side of the storey is that your buddy that you seem to have a hard on for was worried he couldn’t meet the roosters work ethic . No doubt Fifita has a different storey to tell. However it Now seems Des has had enough as well so I know who I believe .Feel free to move to the Gold Coast and support your man in reserve grade as he meets his KPIs and over the top wage.

Fifita’s decision had nothing to do with KPIs - it was about loyalty to the GC.

Maybe time to let this one go as the argument you are putting forward just doesn't pass the bull**** test.
