David Fifita

Big no for me... Has a terrible work ethic. Exactly the wrong big-money player to bring to the club when you have DCE leaving, Turbo injured, and Jake maybe retiring. Unless Olakau'atu can convince him to put in from the other side of the field, massive no from me.

Ben Trbojevic isn't Olakau'atu, but he's not absolutely rubbish like some on here pretend. Whipping boy energy about him this year.

We need middles.

100% grab him for that strike left edge if possible, most players bar Foran and Tino fall away on the Gold Coast....get him fresh and sprinkle some enthusiasm amd watch out - the old Fifita could well erupt.....be great for him and for Manly

Does he rarely deliver though?

Averaged 129m a game last year which was No1 for edge backrowers in the NRL.

Average 5 tackle busts a game last year which was No1 for edge backrowers in the NRL.

Had 36 offloads last year, only 4 edges had more.

Was 6th overall fr edges for line breaks and 2nd overall for edges for line break assists.

I think his issue is people expect him to be the best backrower in the comp and he is certainly not. That said his is still a very good player.

Posted this in the recruitment thread.

I think the hot and cold/inconsistent narrative is a bit overblown.

I think fans judge him harsher than he deserves. He would dramatically improve our left edge and I'm not a Burbo persecutor.

Jake maybe retiring? How have you concocted that?

T-Rex 2.0, no thanks. If Des and Foz couldn't get him to play to his potential each week, what hope will we have? It's a shame as skillful and talented players like himself, Shuster, T-Rex and coal train could've been superstars, except they were all lazy.
Judge him on his output, not his potential.

Sure, he could probably be the best forward in the comp....but he isn't.

That said, if you get out of him what he delivered in 2024 you get a very good edge who dramatically improves our pack.

The question is price. If it is true that he is back on about 800k at the Titans, if we could get them knocking in about 150k......650k would be very attractive to me.

*provided we had the space

If the Titans foot half the bill it's a yes from me.

The problem is that we would really struggle in the halves without DCE for the rest of this year. Arthur doesn't have finals player energy to me and I'm not convinced that Brooks would lift as much as we'd need him to. God help us if Wakeham ends up being our starting 7 week in week out.

As Disco has posted he was the best attacking back rower in the comp last year but yet people act like he has been complete rubbish & inconsistent. I don’t get it, why don’t we look at what has changed around him this year for his poor start.

For starters he had ankle surgery & missed a lot of pre season but the biggest reason is he has a couple fullbacks playing in the half’s & then Weaver who looks like nothing more then a reserve grader. Watch his form turn back around when he is getting fed good ball by Foz if he stays the rest of the year there
