DCE Memories

Just checked and it was Sunshine Coast stadium; it was during the COVID impacted period and I think I just assumed it was Darwin because it wasn't an NRL ground and the Eels usually take a game to Darwin:
I thought the same as you. I think the Eels did play a game up there the same season (but different opposition). They lost that too from happy memory.

He should be finishing up a legend of the club but he's tainted for mine. I think my favourite DCE memory will be Rd 1 2026 when Fogarty or Walsh runs out in the #7.
My fellow Eagles it's time to forgive & forget, I'm as PISSED off as U all. 350+ games out weight more than the bad. He made me more happy than sad for Manly than I can remember. He's got a family to look after, I can relate to it, as a single father I'll destroy anything in my way, so I wish him all the best good luck DCE CHAMP. By the way my tipping name in our comp is DCEagles, running 3rd because tipping Manly every rounds😞

One moment I will always remember is the left foot FG vs Warriors in MT Smart.

Off the field when in origin camp he took time to cross the rd in Southbank Brisbane to meet my then 7yr old son who was in his manly jersey and hat on school holidays. GI actually saw my son first and gestured to DCE who promptly crossed the rd to say hi and take a photo.

We each have that choice , my view won’t be changed one iota.

One of the best backer upperers manly have had, and in the League and in the clear has a knack of selecting the right options .

Kept his speed pretty good over 40 considering his age

His best quality by far

Yes, I think 98 tries speaks to his ability to support. It’s a shame he had to pass to Schoup for the try the other night. He’d be on 99 with a shot at 100 tries for Manly on Friday night. I’d love to see him get a double! Anything is possible!

The first game where I saw him play live.
At Brookie, with my Dad
Against the Sharks , he put up a bomb for himself to run through and catch and score.

To top it off, he brushed past that idiot Beau Ryan to get to the ball.

One of mine is a negative.

Round 9 in 2018 Allianz Stadium vs Roosters. To give some perspective Rooster were minor premiers that year and Manly finish 15th (of 16). I rarely go to games these days but was at this one.

Manly score 1st try under the posts and DCE, who was our goal kicker for that season, somehow misses the conversion.

I knew that would be a vital miss.

Full-time Roosters 22-20.

Like Killer was, DCE is a reluctant goal kicker. He is a very accomplished goal kicker as has been proven often over his career (including the past 2 games). IIRC he was the top point scorer with the Sunshine Coast in 2010 in the year Des chose Trent Hodkinson over DCE as the halfback to blood.

But he is more than happy to pass off the goal kicking responsibility to someone else. That's largely how Reuben Garrick got the job despite not being a kicker of note in any of the lower grades. DCE just didn't want to do it for whatever reason 🤷‍♂️

Yeah I think he is a great kicker - its just that one miss I remember most.
