Deep breath

We generally play well against Easts and Cronulla, and poorly against Illawarra.
Easts are a very dangerous team, and were missing Cordner, Friend and Gordon. Surprisingly, they also had Kane Evans in reserve grade, and he carved up when he felt motivated.
Having said that, today our lads showed great character and made me very proud to be a lifelong Manly supporter.
We were missing Sironen, Taufua, AFB............so kind of evens itself out.

The way we played proves that we CAN match it with the best teams. But the way we played the two weeks before that also proves that we're a long way off being a side that could be called a serious premiership heavyweight.

We still have a good chance this year, but our only hope of beating the Storm if we meet them in the finals is to play our best game of the year against them. Any other team is perfectly beatable, except the Dragons for some @#$%ing reason.

Like I said re last week loss - the Storm are light years ahead of everyone else this year unless they get injuries or contract the plague in the semi's they will be winning it BUT the rest of the teams are very even ( and a bit ordinary in my opinion ) and on our good days we are a match for anyone else....on our worst days we struggle against anyone.

Good win yesterday - let's see how we back it up. We win the last 4 games ( not saying we will ) we'll finish top 4. win 2 or 3 and we've made the 8 and a decent year with a squad not many of us rated that highly at season open.

Was good to be part of that atmosphere yesterday 2nd half, was the first time I've felt like it was the "old Brookie" in ages. Great stuff.

Agree, we are underdogs. If this season was played out 100 times we would not make the 8 Everytime but if things go right for us we could have a season to be proud of.

We did have a little luck on our side. Had Aidan Guerra picked up that grubber kick on the line the Rooters are in front 24 - 22. It was a gutsy performance and I am very happy with the second half. Some of the dummy half passing late int he 2nd half was awful and we looked clunky at times. The effort was back this week and the boys had a real dig with the engine room providing real go forward. Ill take a combination of effort, execution and luck every week. Well done boys!!

Against a better drilled 80 minute team we would have lost? There are no better drilled 80 minute teams except the Storm.
Our teams not exactly in great form at the moment either. That win was about determination, effort and attitude.

But the timing in attack is still out, off loads etc. Whilst Cherry and Turbo had blinders. Our rep players in Walker, Kapow, J Turbo are a bit quiet for their standards.

Make no mistake about it, still plenty of improvement left. We just need to be fit and firing and in form when it counts.

The Roosters had lots of luck also.......a few examples, the strip on DCE for their try should have been a penalty as there were at least 2 players involved before he was stripped, the try disallowed to Winter for obstruction should have stayed plus plus...........Manly 42 - 18!!

First half? Average at best.
Second half? Good, bit lucky and the roosters fell off and let us in. Pearce's grubber that went dead was the turning point - we scored off that 7 tackle set, plus bundling that rooster back in goal was another momentum changer. Against a better drilled 80 minute side I'm not convinced we would have won but hey a win is a win and a confidence builder going into the final rounds of this season.
One whinge: DCE is paid a lot of dough to create chances and when he made that great break late in the first half - he was closed down but he needed to find an option - even a kick ahead.
There a mostly non whingey, semi positive post from me. Happy? Whatever.

When we lose it is because we are shiithouse with a shiithouse coach.
When we win it is because the other team is shiithouse.

And you wonder why I think you are a diikkhead.

Taupau > 44 mins, 203m.....left JWH & Napa in his tracks, Walker 101m playing with an injury, Jake T > 163m, 28 Tackles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pretty good form to me!

If DCE stayed down after the first head high contact we get a penalty.

Don't forget Skivvy and Snake so all the teams crying about injury concerns to their stars can go and get... we have been handicapped since those two were out for us in 2016.

You think they're that much better? What's so good about them?? Cordner yeah....Friend & Gordon are nothing special. If you think their 3 would have made that much of a difference then our 3 would have also!
Manly beat them in Round 5 at full strength, when we were still working out our new combos

And don't forget that blatant forward pass down the touchline in the first half.

Manly 42 - 12

you set a bar pretty high

Kapow, 203m in 44 minutes.

Thats making a high jumper take on the pole vault bar.

Hey Woodsie - whoa back off there. No name calling please. Ever. Debate the topic and that's it. This is the last time I will communicate with you unless you apologise. Major line cross.

You going to be ok Woodsie ?
