I can't believe the Aus v NZ game is delayed until 8:30? WTF Nein?

Then I read in some thread on the RWLC site that the English are getting the games live.

What can you say? How disappointing.

Nine are neanderthals.  I see they're making a big song and dance about re-signing Sam Newman for another 3 years for $3m.  They are seriously stuck in the 80s where they could get away with this delayed telecast rubbish.  If it wasn't for porn I doubt their boys' club would even know the internet existed.

I guess if it meant getting 35k to the game and having it delayed, then that is a good outcome.
Better than having 20k at the game and having it live, imo.

15,000 at $30+ dollars a head are a lot of funds for a struggling international game. I don't like it any more than you but the only people really badly affected were those who wanted to listen on radio and watch telly with the sound down.

Of those 35k who went, I think more than 20k were sold before it was even announced that the game wasn't going to be live (which I didn't hear about until earlier this week).

It was a low move from nine, and shows complete disrespect for rugby league fans.

I don't like it any more than you but the only people really badly affected were those who wanted to listen on radio and watch telly with the sound down.

I hate it mostly because of the ads. Rather than a flowing contest, we get stuck with 6-10 ads twice or more in a half of football. It's f*cking infuriating.

Good point about the ads Will. If I see another one of those pure blonde ads I will put a can of Manly Premiers 2008 Tooheys New cans through the TV screen!!

Its a false economy.  With the game ending at 11am before a work day I'd wager there were hundreds of thousands of people who went to bed early and just checked the score before they did. 

I wonder if the advertisers realise?

I can't believe they didn't broadcast the Koori v Maori game.  That would have been excellent.  I guess 9 stopped Fox from covering it.

They did show the Koori/Maori game, and they showed it LIVE!

It was on at 4pm. Good game too, although I missed the end of it because I wanted to watch Scotland/France.
