Does Schuster become the backrower we need?

I'm just happy to see a potentially 'complete' footballer come into our side and immediately make a winning difference - whatever position he plays.

Think Fulton, Cliffy, Alan Thompson, Tooves - they played other positions than five-eighth (or half), but were champions in whatever position they played.

Wally Lewis payed a lot of his early footy at lock, but everyone thinks of him as a five eighth.

I'm hoping we can speak of Schuster in the future in the same context as these players.

To answer your question the better one ... I don't know. but he will do me until we find him ... but I believe we will see him in the 5/8th role before years end ..

Its seems its assumed Schuster will be to big for 5/8. Personally I think its an advantage. The important factors for 5/8 are ball skills, ability to link and set up the back line, speed, and good defence. He has all those. Having size is a plus with those elements and its why Wally Lewis was such a great 5/8 and occasional lock. Speed matters, but even some of the best wingers are monsters. Noel Cleal in the centre? Size can add the bully effect.

I always thought he'd wind up as a ball-playing backrower and I think he'll stay there for now, at least, if only out of necessity. One thing is certain: everyone, Des included, can see he belongs in the NRL and needs to be in the team every week.

But how good is it to have an extra playmaker on the field? Cherry was relatively quiet yesterday but Foran took over and guided Schuster around that left edge. Really nice to see Foran playing that role of mentor and Schuster soaking it up. The idea that Foran would keep Schuster out of a spot and hamper his development seems off the mark now - this is exactly how I'd hoped their relationship on the field would develop.

I could actually see a halves pairing of Foran and Schuster being very, very effective, and maybe we'll get to see that around Origin time.

He's fine in second row. Besides, we need an organiser in the halves and DCE isn't it. Maybe Schuster has it in him but at the moment , pretty happy for him to cut his teeth in back row.

Would be good to see him swap into 13 during the games and push ol'Jake onto the edge.
Get shoe on both sides to upset defences
