Fast line dropout

manlyfan76

There is no A.I. Just better computers
Ok so if the attacking team kick the ball away to the in-goal and the defense claen it up and ground it, why not allow them to take the dropout as soon as all their playets are on-side (behind the line)? - Still having the option of taking the full time allowed-
This would speed the game up no doubt, taking a minute to take the kick is great for the players to catch their breath but if you kick the ball away why get such a big advantage?

Imagine the foot races as the teams race back to the half way line for the ball.

There are so many rules that slow the game down.
I'm also for letting a bloke take a quick tap from the 20 when he's ready and if the defence isn't then bully for them.

I don't think there is a rule about when to take the drop out once you are on-side but its just accepted that teams will take the full time.

Id also like to see a situation when on a 20m restart we engage the opposition winger in the in-goal then kick for our winger (or ball goes into touch) while their winger is getting back on-side, instead of the tap. 50/50 play but big reward if our winger or centre get the ball.

Bring back quick tap, but I agree not inside the 10. As far as I am also aware aslong as players are onside then nothing prevents the quick drop out. Teams usually use it for a breather

It always amazes me with things like a scrum on your own 20 why we don't see more long kicks downfield for the speed guys straight off the scrum. 99% of the time their wingers won't be expecting it.....and there is usually no fullback at home because he has his head packed in at lock.

Quick taps are allowed but only for certain teams
Only game of league my dad ever came to watch I went to take a quick tap with open pastures in front of me. Anyway I went fancy and instead of a tap went for one of those little chip kicks and accidentally chipped too far in front and had to flail at it to regather it and ended up knocking it on.

So I am totally for all fast taps on the off chance this happens to someone in the NRL, which in turn allows me to dredge up that story for the 100th time

Any circumstance that allows a team to start play before the defending team is ready is a ****ing ridiculous **** of a **** rule and should be stuffed up the ****ing arse of that **** GreenTurd's ****ing arse ...

lol

Didn't mick O'conner do something like that in a legends of origin game? though he just threw the ball in the air so his was worse.

edit: he did, about 4mins 10 seconds into the clip (still looked like it could have been a drop goal...only bounced once then he kicked it..lol)

Cherry kicked a 20/40 instead of the 20m restart against the Knights I believe. Love seeing him kick with such confidence and I think he's been kicking even better this year than the last. We're one of the few teams that actually go for those high risk, high reward plays in today's game.

I would have buried that, covered it in concrete, paved over it then planted a nice rose garden on top

Have been waiting for a team to do a sneaky 10-15m dropout from out wide to catch the opposition unawares, as there's nothing in the rule book (as far as I'm aware) that says you must dropout from under the posts.

What should be banned is getting away with a grubber kick for what is supposed to be a drop out. Preston Campbell did a quick restart one against Manly a few years back. The ball hit the top of his boot, never touched the ground & it went just over the 10m where he picked it up. On talkback radio i heard a NRL official say a grubber kick is a drop kick. Morons. I couldn't believe it. Another rule they just let slide.

DROP KICK is a kick whereby the ball is dropped from the hands (or hand) and is kicked immediately it rebounds from the ground.

But the centre of the goal line can also be read as being as the middle of the goal line from touchline to touchline. A goal line has a front, back and centre. So long as you kick the ball from the middle of the goal line, you can do it anywhere. But the NRL poo bahs would penalise you. Maybe a coach or captain before kickoff could show the NRL referee the rule and say they will take the drop out from anywhere on the goal line they choose. The way the rule is worded Stuey's idea is legal.

You would make a great lawyer @Brissie Kid !

Could be a good one to keep up the sleeve for a big game when we’re behind and need quick possession.

Sad thing is Stuey that the NRL and its referees are innovation killers. Anything out of the norm that their brain can't compute they will penalise or call back. Remember coach Tim Sheens trying trick plays from scrums at Raiders and Wests. Every time the referee onfield or the bunker called it back. There is absolutely nothing to encourage a team to take a risk in the NRL.

That would be great if we had any speed guys.

Haha but what do you really think. Reminds me of me.

Yes indeedy, though I’m surprised they didn’t fInd a reason to pull up St Choke’s mouse trap. Must admit I loved that move, very clever.
