Frank winterstein

True. Look i think he has talent. I think we dont get enough work out of him, as do others. You have posted about our 3 prop bench. My belief is we have that due to the lack of work from our back row.

We have performed above expectations, frank is part of that, but we are not a true top 4 team, although ill be backing them.

I never thought we were a top 4 team, but very happy with the improvement.

I also don't think Frank is the greatest 2nd rower ever, but several things are very clear to me and they are

a) Frank is obviously playing to Baz instructions, and that can only be his defence (often cleans up) and how he links the structures together (I have watched him and he is always in position and calling the defence) If Baz was rating him for his attack or metres he would also obviously be gone so that is clearly not his main function.

and b) He is still running like a union player waiting to hit the ruck rather than a league playing wanting to break through. It is also interesting that running on the edge he is most often tackled around the legs by the first defender, same problem Marty was having on the edge, when Marty moved to the middle and defenders started to tackle him high he could use his power to break through.

Again not the best 2nd rower in the comp but a good defender and will only get better.

He must not be in our attacking structures or instructed to do the dirty hit ups.

He would've surely been hooked by now if he was being "lazy" in attack.

I don't think he would've lasted 23 rounds if he wasn't under specific instructions from Baz.

I keep saying this ..............I watch plenty of 7S and basically it's not a contact sport! ............and unfortunately Frank is from a Rugby 7s background.
The run against Easts was about the first time all year I've seen him hit the line with any ferocity and that was likely because the guy he was running at was half his size!!
He has the size but I don't know if he has any Ian Roberts in him! (no biblical pun intended)

Frank is from a rugby league background, first with the Dogs and then to the UK.He has only spent the last couple of years before joining us as a rugby player.Thought he was pretty good and aggressive on the weekend....

This bloke really stepped up tonight. We were on the cusp of winning and going out to a 22 point lead but he really pulled us in and made sure that didn't happen.

What a useless ****, we conceded about 6 tries while he was on the pitch and like 1 when he wasn't. Conceded all 3 late ones against Penrith as soon as he came on, too. Obviously other players fall to bits but I'm struggling to think of a more nothing player to pull on the Manly jersey. No heart, strength or mongrel in him. Wouldn't get close to another nrl team.

A lot of players were just awful tonight but if we score a try from that break he ****ed up the titans don't score just before the break and don't get a sniff. We absolutely would've won.

Yep Tom should have strolled over in a canter if he passes....
A few bombed tries - maybe 4-5
The truth was Titans though loose in defence - showed 5% more want and guts defending the line to repel Manly....
On the back of this, broke them mentally and went on a scoring spree.

This.

look im dont think he is too bad. I was shocked against the tigers when he had a run around the 20 minute mark, shocked because until then i hadnt sighted him. I get everyone loves his structures, his off the ball stuff but i propose this

If he had a youtube of 100 best moments it would consist of 3 runs , 4 tackles and 93 off the ball moments, runny decoys, pointing at defenders to keep the line. His work rate is too low. He can do good things but honestly we need more than decoys and talking a defence up from the big man

Second row is our biggest weakness and he is a big part of that. His injury free run is no coincidence

Sounds like he could be a good candidate for Manly's Allan Langer. Out there on the field, barking orders at the players.....but doesn't touch the ball or get tackled.

Give him a trainers shirt and bring Sipley or Paseka back into the 17.

Equally as unforgivable was Manly forcing a drop out only for Frank to saunter, with his back to the opposition and yapping to the linesmen - so Taylor kicks to him and the ball goes into touch 😡

Next coach has to put a tape across their mouths as AFB even earnt 10 minutes for his opinions :swear:

Frank is the current Manly attitude personified.
Do one thing that advances the Team, then wander around backchatting officials to allow the opposition a simple right of reply :finger:

He’s 32 in 3 months. Had been around the traps in different codes since 2008.

As yet no one has thought he’s worth keeping long term

32 and he’s going to get better. Yeah right .

I don’t think it’s any coincidence that we’ve been up by a margin in a couple of games the last few weeks and when Frank comes on, we’ve given up those leads.

I shudder whe he comes on.

Why Shipley or Paseka don’t take his place I don’t know.
