Galvin

Just a side thought but depending on how close Crichton and Luai are still, if the rumours are true about Luai and Galvin not being very fond of each other well you would assume Luai would be telling Crichton all the behind the scenes **** and I'll be interested to see how the relationship works out with Galvin and the captain of the side.

I hope your wrong and its 2 /12 :praying::praying::praying::praying::praying::praying::praying:

and i hope your right.

So Galvin has gone to the dogs for $300K less. Yeah right what a farce. Clearly Gould has the rorters sombrero making a joke of the nrl and it's spineless rules. If he was offered $1mil at the Tigers then he should be valued the same.

If Gus derails the club and season and everything falls to pieces i am changing ship to the Eagles

I couldnt see Critta getting down in the weeds with all that,he's built himself out now as a high quality leader and will need to continue that

And yet we can’t get a haircut approved for Tom. How come we have to value Tom at full freight but Dogs can value Galvin at below market price? Quite apart from the 3rd party rorts, surely all clubs should have to abide by “market value” for the purposes of the salary cap.

This is what the offers are/were I believe.

Tigers $1.1m for 6 years
Eels $800K
Dogs $700k

You are right its a complete joke.

But surely the biggest joke is The Dogs just had a spare $700k available in this years cap.

Man has this kid caused a S..t fight at a few clubs. Honestly, would you want a player at your club who doesnt care about any damage that he has caused and any player that may be pushed out because of you, no I dont think so
I think the way the Tigers exit was handled was poor; not suggesting he owed them his signature, but the public fallout was unnecessary. However, it’s not Galvin’s duty to knock back a contract at another club because a player there might get dropped back to NSW Cup. Every player in the game is doing what they can with their career and no one has a mortgage on a position in professional sport. If Sexton suddenly finds himself in NSW Cup, that’s because a club deems another player more worthy of the position and that happens in the NRL every week; the coach picks the best team he can and some players are left disappointed.

I can’t help but think his signing will destabilise the dogs. I expect some of his team mates may feel that Sexton was hardly done by in view of the team leading the comp.

I don’t think it will cause any problems, Galvin’s the newbie, he’ll just link in and add even more energy to their side, that’s primarily what his signature’s about, that and depth, particularly in the halves, the doggies were short there, they also were short in for depth in the centres, (look at last weekend) they now have centre covered as well, I think it’s an excellent signing, it gives them an injury or suspension play over 2 very crucial positions, it has Goulds thinking all over it, another piece of the elusive GF formula.

I’m not even sure where he plays yet, his a 6 for mine so I’m not sure he displaces Sexton in any case, big call if it’s Burton and where would Burton play? 7? Maybe Galvin plays 14? While they sort it out, maybe Toby won’t be offered a new deal for next year or maybe he will as depth in the halves, hard to think any player wants to sign a deal on those terms. Have the dogs even said where Galvin will be playing yet? Will be very interesting to see what unfolds, still a very shrewd signing in my opinion.

We don't know the exact figure of course but I've heard reports of around 700k.
Didn't the Tigers offer 6m for a 5 year deal? If so, that is 1.2m per year.
Which would make the Dogs offer $500,000 per year less than the Tigers!!!

Definitely a "problem" I wish we had!

Couldn't agree more - trying to fit in extra quality players and then journos assuming that it will cause team disharmony is the ultimate in stretching. Every team wants better players. Good blokes can only take you so far.

This Bulldogs team is going super on heart and grit and fight but needs/needed a fair bit more before it can win a comp IMO.

Nobody buys the baloney that Gus sells that it's all about team spirit and character first - that's just how you rebuild from the bottom. Gus would say anything to sell his message. Ignore what the bloke says, but watch what he does, he's as ruthless as anyone. Thats why this Bulldogs team will probably win stuff. Plus they've got a great coach too with a hard edge. I'm envious of what they are building. When Manly were winning stuff in the 70's and 80's did all the stars we bought from other clubs stuff up our harmony ??

Does the transfer fee from the Tigers, reportedly, calculated into Canterbury's salary cap?
If so, plus the salary they have to pay Gavin for the rest of this season, would add up to around $350,000 wouldn't it?
Quite extrordinary to think any club which hasn't released any players would have a spare $350,000 in its salary cap mid season.

Not necessarily Who, $350k would only relate to about 3% of the total salary cap ... to get him in they must have been keeping at least one top 30 spot open for the transfer window on June 1st.

The NRL's salary cap for the 2025 season is $11,400,000 per club. This figure represents the base salary cap, meaning it does not include allowances like car and veteran player payments. When these allowances are factored in, the total salary cap limit for each club's top-30 squad is $11,800,000.
