I'm surprised that good wingers these days aren't commanding higher salaries. A winger is not only a major attacking weapon, an aerial specialist, and a defuser of high kicks he is used as a battering ram when trying to get the ball out of a team's 'red zone'.
Plus, wingers are crowd favourites, and reap in merchandising revenue for clubs.
Wouldn't you love Coates, Mark, Toupo, Cobbo... in our team?

DCE has been a pretty decent quality back-up. I guess at least we'll have all next year to get some candidates practicing.

Nah I wouldn’t say that. Onitoni Large will most likely start his career at centre & will be the replacement until Fogarty leaves & opens a position in the half’s

Garrick was offered a 2 year deal worth over $1 million thats been declined. He has decided to explore his options November 1.

Hopefully we don’t get into a bidding war to keep him. $500-$550k that he was offered is completely fair

The issue with Garrick's offered contract seems to be the length of it.

Why can't this club ever do contract stuff properly? It would be sad to see him let go.

I have to disagree - a 2 year extension will lock him up until he’s 31 & I very reasonable. It can go down hill quick for wingers as they enter their 30’s.

It would be incompetence from every person involved at the club to make it longer for a 29 year old after seeing how Bad we’ve been burnt by Jakes deal.

I’m personally happy they are finally showing some backbone in negotiations - bullsh*t deals like Garrick wants have been our problem too long.

He is only a winger, unfortunately we signed him on centres money last time. Plenty of wingers around.

If the reason the club needs to keep Garrick is because the team needs a back up kicker,they have bigger issues.Not that I care who can and can’t kick,but Taukeiaho has been a back up at his former clubs,in the past,just to answer your question

Rueben is a reliable winger, good finisher and steady goal kicker, I think at centre he makes many defensive errors and he and Saab dont always read the play.

It would be nice to retain him and if he can get a deal for fullback or centre elsewhere so be it.
