The flat start to many games is not the enthusiastic standards you would expect from a Hasler coached Manly side
Something is off - attitude is everything and way down atm.
Not sure Des has ever been the most technological style coach, but has always had the abilty to ensure his troops compete and physically rip into opposition and this has slackened off a fair way.
Maybe the game has sped up and changed more than Des has, but I refuse to write off the Mad scientist, have seen him leave many eggs on faces of critics over the years.

the coach losing the dressing room and the dressing room being split or upset can be 2 different things with the same result

walker and foran on less than 800k between them offer a lot to this team, and will be missed big time
signing chez up way before necessary and prioritising him over others could have a negative result considering his contributions compared to the others, and still leave plenty to upgrade the hooker role. considering schuster and possibly humphries and latu coming through who all seem to have the same game style it reeks of madness. i understand the foz decision but losing walker is madness

yes DCE is contracted for next year and yes that was a hurdle to overcome but right now i would reckon the dolphins would take it up

forget for 1 minute this is your footy team and it is a workplace where everyone knows how much everyone is paid, and every week stats and performance evaluations of your work is done via video, as a group. how often do we fail in the kicking game, patience and decision making and who owns that role. what do we think reactions are when the brainsnaps are on review in front of the team

we all see that jake and tom when fit play more halfback than DCE.

when DCE gets the team around him and delivers a captains spray, hardly anyone looks interested,

yes our forwards could do better, but is that a dressing room issue or effort

i dont know anything for sure and yes i am in the knocker group,( branded by silvertails posters ) or realists as we like to call ourselves. Yes i made that up too, but is none of this welcomed to a discussion about our dressing room. if you think we talk salary cap, how do the players perceive it

I think all the attention around Foran was a massive distraction during the week. The team were headless last night from the opening whistle.

That plus the injury to Tommy Turbo. You could just see.multiple times how much the team structured attack and defence around him and he was missing.

I think if Manly can rest turbo for a few weeks, put Garrick back at FB and get Parker and Saab back in, and then bunker down and tell everyone else to PI$$ off. We will be ok.

NYEagle
Only problem with that is, Garrick looks busted as well.

He hasn't just lost the dressing room, he's lost the whole club. Is anyone watching this joke disgrace 2nd tier BWSE team. This club us rotten from the top down.
Anyone that thinks there’s options in the Blacktown team, need to watch this for a reality check.Obviously there’s struggles with combinations due to the ever changing team list but there are a lot of unfit players in there.Humphreys looks a few years away but I like the look of him.And those calling for Segeyaro to get a contract to play are basically only saying it due to their dislike of Croker

I’m a fan of Croker but he missed 10 tackles last night. How do you miss 10 tackles?. They must have targeted the ruck area to great effect.

Wierd game last night. That wasn’t a team out there.

Exactly. It wasn't a team but a collection of individuals with no guidance or leadership. No common cause , no do it for your mates. It's a stone cold , dead fish group who don't seem to care about pride in performance. The worst part is that all this lack of attitude comes from the top down. Lived through the malaise of the N.E days but seriously some of that last night was as bad as anything I've ever seen from this club.

No, no, it's nothing to see here remember you doom-and-gloom so and so. You're not toeing the posses line mate. Get back in your lane...

  • We are flying under the radar
  • Des knows what he's doing
  • We look great !
  • Things will turn around
  • We beat the dogs by a point, and they were top 4 (after the first round)

Etc etc etc. Quick, change your post before the almighty Red Pill rips you a new arsehole and names a cyclone after you.

He made 53 though and for those that think DCE should move to 9,should think about that.Luke Capewell missed 7 so it depends on where, when and how they occur

I mentioned earlier in the season after the loss to Penriff, that Sean O'Sullivan would be a decent pick up. Has a bit of Adam Reynolds about him, cool as a cucumber. Him and Schuster together in the halves I'd like to see.

So, back to my question ( only James has really answered it ) , has Des lost the dressing room ??

I don't think so.

I think there's a level of inconsistency due to the combination of injuries & young, inexperienced players in the squad which hasn't been helped by the fact Foz, Walker & Tapau are leaving at the end of the season.

These guys are professional athletes & should be able to perform to their best on the field despite knowing a favoured player is leaving, so if that's the reason for our performances this season, they need to grow up & appreciate the fact they're being paid extremely well to play a sport they love & get on with the job.

Does this lack of professionalism come from the top? Who knows?

What also saddened me last night Mick is that Ola had a real crack. He was trying to lift the team with big defence and tough runs but there was nothing with him out there. No one in support, and every play the ball the players were playing the ball slowly and looking behind them looking for a penalty. What the hell was that?.

The Greenscum days are over, we need to concentrate on playing rugby league and stop looking for penalties.

Best metes in the team for a forward by some. He's an absolute beast, and a bright light in this team ATM, who are very short of any lights whatsoever haha

How we "bounce back" / perform next week will be a good indicator!
I don't think that our team has the talent, the desire or the character to bounce back in a big way. The last few years have shown they don't. When the blowtorch is applied we simply melt. Sure when the opposition is crap and things are going well, we can go ok but when we need to get in a grind, attack with our defence and just fight they just don't have it in them or they just don't care enough have a decent go for their mates and the jersey.

This year even the games we have won we haven't played that well.

We are just cannon fodder and making up the numbers for the foreseeable future. We just don't have resources or owners with deep enough pockets.

We all know that we've won a comp every decade since the 70's. Well It ain't happening this decade.

I highly doubt we even make the eight this year...even with all those other **** teams.
We need to recruit new players. I don’t understand why we don’t go for more big name signings.
Would any elite players even consider Manly?
Like a Munster for example?
We don't have any money in the salary DCE and the turbos take up a huge chunk of it.

Walker leaving
Tapau not resigned
Foran not resigned

( and yes I’m aware we need to move some on due to salary cap etc etc )

3 players taking a very large chunk of the salary cap.

Young players threatening to leave if they don’t play certain positions.

Blind Freddy can see that at times this team isn’t playing like a team it’s playing like a loose knit of players , some of whom are injured , some of whom are leaving and clearly don’t really care , some aren’t being offered upgrade or extensions and like those leaving don’t seem to care.

We go ok against weak teams as we do have some good players but as soon as ANY pressure , yes anything at all , comes on us we fall apart like a stack of cards being knocked over in the wind.

Last nights game was gone in TWO SECONDS. Heads went down , and from there it was inevitable that we would lose, think about that “ two ****ing seconds “ and we are dusted!

Of course Des doesn’t make the tackles , Des isn’t on field yelling instructions BUT this IS Des’s team.

Has he lost the dressing room??

Is he good enough to turn things around ??

Has the game moved past him??

He’s never mentioned as a coach under threat , should he start to be??
From what’s been produced by the squad after 10 games, Des has got to find the dressing room along with a training paddock.

Not a well drilled squad in any facet of the game, thank goodness for some of the other teams not being up to scratch..
