If wolfman is gone..

Riff let Satini go because his defence is/was woeful, if I remember correctly. Could be an NRL player for sure but does have holes in his game. I'd expect him to play this season out in the reggies. Nothing like Taufua in terms of the situation though, Jorge had massive raps on him & it was a big play for us to pinch him from Parra (lol Parra).

I'd have to say that Hiku deserves the wing spot if there's no Williams. I agree with the sentiment above that he's not a winger but he needs to be in the NRL squad, so fit him in wherever we can.

Fingers crossed we still have the wolfman. Hiku isn't a bad catcher either, really safe under the high ball by mid last year. Blair is a handful in attack but I recall him being a key part of parra's woeful right hand defence. Manly made that side pay big time last year and I think the year before too. Hopefully their structure or lack of it was the problem not Blair himself.

Agreed and if Brett goes down injured and out for a week or more then Hiku can slot straight in at fullback and someone else can take the wing spot.

It'll be Hiku

God people get excited easily, someone makes a break in a 9s game and they are suddenly our best player.

I enjoyed the 9s, love the concept but base nothing on the performances

He didn't just make a break Disco he also flew like a Sea eagle over the try line :)

Hiku should be wing ahead of wolfman regardless of injury. Then if there is a back line issue or reshuffle we have this debate. Stop being sentimental. Wolfs year will be like twenty eleven where he was not a first pick but pushed the others hard and played plenty. And we win the comp.

Firstly, I rate the Wolf as 1 of the best finishers in the game.
Sure he has some blemishes to his game, but most players do, especially wingers who offer far less than him in yards & quality finishing...
IF he is not available, Hiku can stand in though I believe he lacks genuine pace & his best position is backup to Snake at FB where he has proven a solid option.
Gutherson will continue to improve & though he lacks explosive pace off the mark, will be a solid if not super NRL winger of the future.
Having only seen Blair in the 9's after taking little notice of his time at the Eels, seems big, strong & fast.
Blair gets my vote to prove himself but have a feeling Hiku will be the 1 selected....as mentioned, whoever has the gig outside Lyon will score plenty of tries.

I think Manly should be bringing up Charlie Taylor from the 20s, a Specialised Winger he is still young but reminds me of a young Brett Stewart and has incredible explosive speed and tough. He has plenty of Rep Honours to his name including last years Australian Schoolboys Winger, he could also be playing centre this season as well. The concern is and I hope the Wolfman is back ASAP, (I am hearing talk he may not be, I hope its not true). If say Brett Stewart and Matai are out for a while and they could get injuries in the backline, there needs to be backup, some of the new signings could also cover the back row if need be as they are big enough for injuries there.

Who would take the #5 spot?

Thought Satini looked really strong during the 9's. Big, strong and skillful. With wolfman out for potentially the season, I think he could be a smokey for a wing spot.

Blair looked good as well and apparently scored a try in the sharks trial by out jumping his opposite winger.

Gutherson - maybe too slight at this stage but did some good things in the 9's. was that him who busted the line to offload for Satani's try?

Hiku is a great one for the future but doesn't seem a winger to me, more a centre or fullback.

Charlie Taylor a true speedster- probably too young at this stage but a specialist winger who will play 1st grade in the future.
I agree with Taylor and see Hiku more as a Fullback. I think Manly should be bringing up Charlie Taylor from the 20s, a Specialised Winger he is still young but reminds me of a Brett Stewart in the making and a Matai with his toughness, has incredible explosive speed. He has plenty of Rep Honours to his name including last years Australian Schoolboys Winger, I am hearing he could also be playing centre a bit this season as well , especially if the Wolfman is out for the season and they get injuries in the backline, some of the new signings could also cover the back row if need be as they are big enough to help out for injuries there.
