I'm ready to walk away from the game

how is it possible to TROLL this bald headed wanker without trolling the messenger

In my opinion the club would be using the projected cap increase to back end cap deals. Not Snake and Matai's current earnings.

This seems to be the case with all clubs.
Some clubs reported to be projecting 9m and some dangerously on 10m, which is why the threat of a fire sale becomes very real if clubs have overshot the cap.

The club has requested the funds free up via early retirement as of this year so that's $1.3m for this year alone.... moving forward they have the projected cap increase.

I understand what you're saying but the fact that we cannot definitively say how much cap space the team has is a travesty.

Can someone please give me a good reason why the NRL cannot make a teams cap space figure public? The obvious one is that the NRL simply has no idea what each teams cap figure currently is, which is of concern.

I've asked the NRL and they said it breaches privacy laws to publish the clubs players salaries.

I asked about getting just the total TPA totals (assuming each club is exhausting their full cap) but again they said it was a privacy issue due to the clubs and third parties.

Don't care about individual salaries as it is too convoluted with cap figures and TPAs etc.

Just tell us what the CLUBs total expenditure on player salaries currently is. No issues there, simply business reporting its expenditure on a particular aspect of its operations.

Also, why not simply include within a player contract that the salary cap figure reported to the NRL will be made public and by signing the agreement the player acknowledges that this information will be made public. The NRL simply don't want to do this because then questions will start being asked how clubs like Brisbane are able to secure a player for $200k when other clubs were offering $600k. Wouldn't want the suspicions that the cap is a joke being confirmed now would we.

It wouldnt be too hard to work out individual salaries from the totals depending on how often it's reported.
If player x leaves the squad etc and isn't replaced well you know his salary...

I think it's more your 2nd point. The NRL is fully aware that we have some teams on $6.8m vs others on $10m.
It's become so unfair that people would walk from the game if they knew the truth. Sick of seeing their teams play against richer teams.

I've asked the NRL about TPA's in the past and they said that they were hoping to tighten this area once the new players association agreement came into place. Maybe more cap means less TPA's?.... not sure but that's how it sounded.

Honestly, these players are paid a very good sum to play a sport that they love. If that means that the public knows how much they are on then so be it. It doesn't take too much effort to know how much the CEO of many companies out there earn. I know we are talking about different sums of money but it also doesn't take too much effort to know roughly how much each NRL player earns (or should be earning). These guys simply need to stop being such divas and deal with the fact that Tom, Dick and Harry will know they earn X. It's not like it will change anything for the players as everyone knows they earn a mint anyway.

The simple fact is that people are walking away from the NRL. Youth participation has dropped significantly over the past 10 years and fans are leaving in droves. I used to watch almost ever single game each weekend. Now watch in full if Manly wins and snippets if we lose. That's the extent of it. I know dozens of my family and friends who are doing the same or worse.

The NRL needs to keep the fan based engaged and one way of doing that is proving that parity and competition exists. If I wasn't raised in a crazy Manly family I likely wouldn't be interested in the sport. If that is the case across the board then the fan numbers will continue to dwindle as new supports are not being attracted/retained and existing supporters are becoming jaded and despondent with the administration and are leaving on mass.

The NRL kept its fan base due to loyalty the fans had for the clubs and favorite players. Now that every player seems to be a mercenary and loyalty is all but gone, they need to address the needs of the fan base to keep them or there will be no league what so ever.

I take your point but I think I hate Canterbury and Parramatta so much that seeing them recruit well makes me sick in the stomach...I also don't think I will ever get over Foran leaving Manly.
Snake, there is one thing that will keep you watching the game....and that is the knowledge that no matter who Parra recruit, or how much they talk things up, they will inevitably fail. We will have the usual recycling of 'could this be the next Sterlo?', swiftly followed by the headlines 'another half bites the dust'.

The downfall of the great BA - you know, that great coach everyone rates that hasn't made a finals series yet, that will be around the corner after another failed year - so get the popcorn out, chill a few beers in the freezer and enjoy the show.

Recruit well?
The mighty Dez finally has the team he's built himself after 5yrs as the coach and still has no apples. Woods and Foran reeks of desperation. Dogs will now offload $2m worth of talent to fit in Woods who's is one of the most overrated players in the Comp and Foz who is a ticking time bomb in Sydney. Clubs will be licking their lips to get some of the $2m in talent they will get rid of.

Parramatta....? Recruit well?.... Watmough, Foz, Sandow, not to mention half their team probably still have pending domestic assault charges. Salary cap breach.
Moses for 8/900 isn't good recruitment, it's terrible. He won't compliment Norman at all. And Kane Evans in my opinion is overrated.

We have $1.3m on the war chest ready to pounce. Made some excellent youth signings and also some "has beens" who had apparently lost it that are proving people wrong.

We're in a good position compared to both the clubs you mentioned.
I agree I think he meant other players like vave brown gutherson but yeah they throw the bank at other clubs stars ie Sandow hoppa foran watmough Jennings Scott now moses.. they aren't doing to we'll this year are they lol may this continue

hahaha I like the way you think because that's exactly what I've been saying. I call him bottom 8 ba pride of the west and the eels the doldrums eels. they are a chequebook club with a chequebook culture this is why they will always fail.
funnily enough there best player is gutherson and he's a manly kid. One we need to get back eventually. which bafoon let him go? ??? and to the eels of all clubs

Time will tell. Already reading that Graham, Liccha, Hoppa, Kasiano, Eastwood are on the outer....

Last time I added $600k and $700k (which I read was their reported salaries) it equates to $1.3m. That $1.3m is included in this years cap without and players taking the field. That $1.3m will be available as of next year unless we get the early retirements approved by the NRL in which case it'll be available immediately.

That's why Silvertails is great. You have your opinion. I'll have mine.
Dump those logs Myles and Brown and we'd have $2mil to go shopping with..
