Is Gorman teflon coated .. ?

Mate, I know as fact that Trent imposed an alcohol ban, which was ignored. I think it was about 4 weeks before the end of the season.

It was after the flogging we got from The Eels I think (or Chooks) - can't remember, where all the players were out partying to all hours (my niece interacting with them dispite my protests).

Barrett also told the group not to go out at Gladstone (which was also ignored, and I heard Trent was actually with them in the end).

Not sure why these Indian Bong smoking gizmos are all the buzz with the team ATM (not illegal btw). Or why they'd smoke on social media (in my mind, just looks ridiculous, but I'm a fossil).

Honestly, our players aren't taking their careers seriously. They believe they rule the roost. They decide on who should coach, which player should sign, as there is 0 accountability.

That's why the LAST thing we need, is a laid back, have 27 beers with the boys Cartwright. We need a hard head that will tear up contracts if they do the wrong thing, aren't on the bus, and aren't dedicated to the cause.

It's all about partying, gaming, and the celebrity status right now. I'm sure they think they are in an American gang or something. Home Boys. LOL.
How’s your recovery going?

Surely you have used your monthly data by now. Another negative thread full of nonsense by B1 & B2

Simply posed the question ..... didn't state a conclusion ...... or have you gone over to the left and wish to stiffle healthy debate ......

Mmm .... healthy and debate on Silvertails? Interesting?

Woodsie. I normally like your stuff but the last month you’ve kept defending Barrett and he had 3 years. I defended him for ages but he showed his colors when he let his manager try to manipulate **** and **** us over. Lyall has been here a year. Inherited a disfunctional coach and salary cap. Amongst other things.

Personally I’m going to give him some time because whether it’s spin or not at least he’s talking to the fans. I don’t remember anyone else doing it. I at least get the impression he cares and he’s trying

Couple of things .... I haven't slamed Gorman ... I have simply asked the Question of what has been his role or contribution, as CEo he appears to have been spared any responsibilty for the blood-letting going on here .....

I have stated several times that my own opinion is that Gorman could be the best CEO in the world .... but in a situation where the company has one shareholder who is also the Chairman and the chq writer .... the CEO has no real independence or autonomy of action .... I believe Gorman (regardless of talent) is on a hiding to nothing ......

I only defend Barrtt because of statements like yours qoute "he showed his colors when he let his manager try to manipulate **** and **** us over." How is that a balanced view ..... he was dissatisfied with the lack of action and the broken promises ..... he gave 12 months notice as required ...... his manager is simply ensuring he gets what he is legally entitled to ..... as any other person in the world with a workplace contract would do .....

and PSS ... Lyall didn't inherit a dysfunctional coach .... when Lyall came on board we had just finished 6th with happy days in sight .....

When you say all the players Ryan are you including DCE, Jake & Tom?

This morning, I responded to Lyall's letter he so kindly wrote...........
Thanks for those words of inspiration Lyall and I do hope they are sincere. I will this year remain a loyal member and hope you guys get your off field dramas well and truly sorted out because I know a great number of mates including myself who are dispondent to say the least. Just remember when choosing the next coach that he doesn't need to be best mates with the playing group, he just needs to have their respect and a will to win which we used to have in our proud Manly culture. Also I've never heard of a situation where employees choose their boss so the players should just accept your decision and move forward as one.

Regards

Scott (Go Manly)

You can go back and look at all the posts where I defend him but he lost me when he listened to his manager to **** over the club.

You can’t possibly tell me when he’s asking for all his support staff to be re-signed and the club does it and there’s no issue about facilities and then a couple of weeks later suddenly we have all these issues. That should have been evidence too of the club working to provide what he wanted. I don’t understand how’s it’s not

In my view he’s played a game of musical chairs where he thought he had a job lined up elsewhere and it all fell through. I think they’ve asked for that clause when we were extending him so that he could do this never intending to actually serve notice.

He’s then had to come out and make up a whole bunch of reasons for his poor performance in the media and thrown the club under the bus. Extending 2 assistants and a head of S&C for 2 extra years is prob about a $800k exercise (conservatively). That has now hamstrung is for future coach signings because there is a football club cap. All to get his mates jobs and **** the club over

I’m loyal to the club and he showed his colors and his complete and utter lack of regard for the club or it’s fans.

So when someone ****s the club over, they’re dead to me

Mate love your loyalty to Manly .... but before somene is dead to me .... I prefer to know the facts .... you have imagined, thinked and opinioned an entire scenario that just maybe miles from the truth ... all based on a desire to believe the worst case against Barrett .....

Given his track record ..... I tend to believe the worst of Penn and his admin. ..

I’m not believing anyone’s word. Certainly not owners. But he came out in the media and bagged the facilities and complained about some really petty stuff. He was trying to create a narrative.

Regardless of what you think mate I’m judging him based off my values. And if I have a problem with my employer I don’t run to outside unless I’m trying to force and issue and get myself sacked. I go and talk to them and I don’t cry about it. He’s either stupid, naive or it was his plan to get himself sacked and earn a payout. I’ve lost respect for him.

I backed him to the hilt and blamed injuries and everything else I could think of for our performance and I ignored stuff that raised red flags. Told people to give him a chance.

But he shouldn’t have been taking advice from a rival gm (Gus) who has notoriously loose lips. Then we end up in the papers with Gus criticizing us.

We extend HIS assistants because that’s what he wants. Then he signs an extension that includes a notice period. Nobody does that unless they think they’re planning on using it.

I can’t stand his manager who I believe is at the centre of it. Got hook griffin extended and then paid out. The spanner though was Nathan Cleary saying he wanted to play with his dad. That’s where I think it came unstuck. Otherwise baz would be at the panthers.

He doesn’t care about manly or our fans so why should I give a rats about him?

I will give him until this time next year before my opinion on Gorman... providing he is still CEO at that point.

Mate ... please .... he only went to the media to paint a narrative .. AFTER .... I repeat after ..... Zorba attempted to character assassinate him in the press, followed by Penn going to the press to bad-mouth him .....

(Coincidentely , a replay of their their modus operantee with hasller and Toovey ..... )

It is interesting that since Baz did reply .... both Zorba and Penn have pulled their heads in and shut up ......

That’s “leak” through Gus bagging our facilities was months before that. You don’t talk to Gus unless you want stuff to leak out.

It was early May when all this drama started and it started to seem like he had one foot out the door. Gus is then talking about manly on his podcast. What a coincidence that our form started to dip. He had no control of the playing group and Gladstone happened.

For such a fantastic coach he should have been more worried about his players and coaching and disciplining the team he had rather than plastic chairs and a recruitment manager. Most of our players were signed and we were hamstrung with cap penalties. Why wouldn’t he just buckle down and focus on performance.

He told everyone he’d stay and then 2.5 months later griffin gets sacked and suddenly he’s resigning. All of it smells dodgy to me. But that’s just me. Call me a cynic but I think people at their core are full of self interest

Again old mate .... a wonderful construct of worst case opinion .... but completely devoid of fact.

Well I presented the fact with a source that early May he was talking to Gus and gus was talking publicly about our club. I haven’t seen anything bagging him before then

That he confided in Gus is factual ..... your contention that he did this knowing it would be "leaked" is conjecture and just opinion as I stated .... without fact ..
