Is Lillyman worth a shot for a season

Smokin Joe

I know many will disagree but he might be worth a one year deal to help provide some experience for not a lot of cash.33 years old yes(182 cm and 105 kgs),but has played 21 games this year and is in good enough form.Averages around 45 minutes per game and 13 hitups and 125 metres,23 tackles and 2 misses per game. Not elite numbers (although had a few games with 16-20 hit ups when given more time on the field)but I don't think he is needed for that, provides a veteran presence and is consistent each week, solid and compact build and runs hard and a solid defender.Yeah I know many are pinning their hopes on snatching someone already on contract, but could be a useful signing.Thoughts?

If the dogs can't get Woods under the cap we should target him.
Woods may not perform in Origin but his excellent at club level

I think the past few weeks/months has shown we need a lot more than Lillyman. Decent enough, but running on old legs. You can say he played Origin this year but he was hopelessly out of his depth. Much like Nate Myles really.

I like old props, most don't really peak until 30 anyway. He'd be a solid pickup, would definitely be in the 17 and do a reliable job. These are the sort of guys that premiership winning teams need.

If we can't find anyone else than yes, although let's target the big names first. Could be ok although too old imo

This guy is at the end of his career and was never an intimidating forward
We need a young aggressive and horny prop in his prime with a hard on that will screw the opposition pack .
We need an aggressive leader that will also stir our boys up as well
We need a leader .We need Captain hard on . We dont want any more soft cocks in our team

He would be a good pick up on the right coin.. but I get the feeling we Will get Graham I dunno why but I keep thinking it will happen and for a year I wouldn't mind he's better than all our props bar Marty and can play big minutes. We shall see what bozo is cooking up but if we got Graham and Hayne I wouldn't be surprised

Who do you have in mind and please don't say Graham as he is past his prime too?

Some young up and coming strong aggressive type who intimidates the opposition . A real enforcer .
I would hate to be the commentator trying to pronounce that name, the set of six would be over before you finished.I think we have the young aggressive guys covered, unlike others I think Sipley and Paseka will play a role next year along with Tanginoa,Hopoate and Bainbridge in the backrow.I also rate Lussick more highly than others,I think he has been the best front rower with Taupau's quiet streak of late.I am not sure how much more of the cap we should be spending on the front row,I believe we need a veteran who is a calm, stable, consistent type(for reasonable money)more than another kiddie, but unfortunately unless these guys want to stay in the NRL the ESL pays more.....Tetevano is a real nut job and is still young, maybe he is the type who would fit your requirements.(Don't know about his sexual prowess, you would have to check with others on that....)

I have to say Smokin Joe, I'd have Graham over Lillyman any day. I think Graham has gone stale at the dogs like everyone else in that team. You put him in a new team with a fresh start - he would have the mentality and toughness to make the most of it and churn out another two stellar seasons.

Lillyman on the other hand was never that great to begin with. He has been a solid player who was fortunate to play origin, but certainly at the end of his career. I don't think he brings what we are missing.

I agree he is better, but I don't think we need too much more money tied up in the front row....even if doggies pay part of his salary(just my thoughts).

We are not being mentioned at all, but I think James Graham would be ideal.

A leader, a firebrand, something to prove.

Get it done Bozo!

A starting middle of Jake, Marty and Graham would be bloody fantastic. All can play plenty of minutes, Jake and Graham are so solid in defence and Marty can provide the power game. All 3 of these guys are good at rolling up their sleeves and leading/inspiring when things are tough. Would certainly take the pressure off DCE.
